Would NOIDA benefit from the F1 track, and become a hub for motorsports in India?

hi fellow forum members,

NOIDA a sleepy suburb of New Delhi and a city in NCR, has never been in the lime lite like it has been for the last few years.

Rally Raj Kapoor of Perfromance Motors, Apna Amanpreet the Gypsy builder, Fauji Samarth of ProMods....the list is increasing day by day...

lots of motorsport activities have already started in NOIDA and lots of people related to motorsports have moved their business to NOIDA or are in the process of opening their branches in NOIDA.

Land and industrial plots are plenty, easy access to New Delhi, good infrastructure, better roads etc helps in the growth of a city.

would NOIDA benefit from the India's only F1 track and become a hub for motorsport acitivities?

Of course,a big YES!

Noida will benefit a lot from this event. Actually, many hotels already have!

On a serious note, If the track is set opened to 'normal' petrolheads for track-days, like we have over south India, I can't see why it wouldn't be a success. Enthusiasts from North have been yearning to experience the joys of circuit-racing for many years. Not only north-Indians, motor-sport enthusiasts from all over the country would like to visit and drive around track.

As for the time, I cannot foresee any chances of failure here. Albeit, a lot depends how the event is organized. Also, whether Jaypee/FMSCI are willing to open this track for public track-days or not?

Here's what all is planned for the Noida track (for the other 51 weekends of course )

- Rent out to petrol-heads who want to race on the track

- Other Indian racing series (including the VW Polo cup)

- Rent out to manufacturers for testing

- Bike racing. Not sure, but some people are really keen to have MotoGP in India

- Have numerous car shows around the year (e.g. Vintage car parade)

- Go kart championship races (on a smaller section of the Buddh track)

Will they allow a solo riding(bike or car) on the track?

Apart from the above benefits listed by GTO, it can be used by car manufacturers to allow customers try out the products before the buy or maybe some training after the buy. There were reports about Merecedes benz opening a training school/driving academy near Noida, may be for the above purpose.

However once opened to general public I fear for the quality of the track which may need then regular maintenance and therefore higher cost of entry.
