Re: Christmas Autocross Event : 25th Dec 2011, Mumbai / Pune

@Pferdestärke - The whole video? that might be embarrasing(for me) and amusing(for the rest) considering the fact I was all over the track most of the time.

Also agree with scooby05 about the laps this weekend, I would love that and it would be the perfect birthday gift for me(1st Jan, yeah, I throw that around a lot)

Even if that dosen't pan out, I would love to see you opening the circuit for track days. I'm sure I speak for a lot of people here when I say I wouldn't mind paying to drive around the tracks and hone our skills in general. Please look into the feasibilty of organising such track days.

I knew that this would come up as a topic of discussion.

I'm definitely not saying that driving the course with 1 hand is better or faster in any way -- but i ended up doing it (and was more than comfortable doing it), for a few reasons :

- I wanted to concentrate on correct power delivery (ie not overdoing it in the loose dirt), and before getting on the track i was unsure of whether 1st or 2nd would be appropriate at most places. I gave that more priority over the additional tenths i might have got with 2 hands and hence i guess i was preparing myself to change gears at any time during the lap.
- If at any point i needed more control, i'd have put my other hand on the wheel. I don't think i was let down by using just 1 hand though.
- After the initial lap i was more familiar with what was required from the gearbox, so chances are the next lap i would have used more of 2 hands.

I am really sorry for not able to recognize you but I was pretty sure that I know you when you waved me, but I was not getting your name.
This time before going for any rally, I am going to ask you to send me Team-bhp stickers; the one’s which I had are all pasted over on my other gypsy.
Hey i didn't expect you to recognize me, as we've never met before (as far as i know!)

Sure thing man -- i'll give you some the next time we meet, or you can buy a full set at Store - Team-BHP if you like.

Unless you're driving in a single-make series like the Polo Cup, its never "fair".

To be honest, I don't really care about separate classes or INRC, Modded & Bone Stock cars being grouped together. At least not in an event like this where there isn't too much emphasis on competition or "winning".

All i care about is :
1) Maximum number of laps
2) Seeing my timings (and ability to benchmark them against others)

I'm guessing most participants would agree with this -- at least for the more casual auto-cross events.

Was wondering if you'd notice that! (I only noticed when reviewing the video)

Hi Rehaan,

I guessed there must have been some reason for using that method, hence I asked. Good that you clarified.
