MoGrip 2016 - Organiser assaulted by Police, participants detained

Mogrip 2016 - inspector slaps rally organizer, seizes all the bikes for "rally without permission", detains more than 50 participants.

Video posted on facebook here - caution, the inspector is using some quite foul language in Telugu.

Re: MoGrip 2016 - Organiser assaulted by Police, participants detained

Well, they were in an area where the necessary permissions weren't sought. If 50 bikes (or cars) were racing in my lane - a residential lane with families freely walking around - I'd be pissed as hell (just like the villagers were). I don't agree with police brutality, but neither do I agree with 50 vehicles racing on public roads, that too without informing local authorities.

By the way, good save & reflexes by the organiser. He avoided getting slapped both times. Narrow miss.

Riding bikes at more than 150 kmph on village roads? I am sorry, but which bikes were these and what kind of village roads?

Typical katcha road - but MoGrip is an offroad / gravel circuit race.

According to this article, it looks like they took permission from one police station but some of the bikers strayed a couple of km off into another station's limits and that station booked them for racing without permission.

And here's a photo from the 2015 Hyderabad leg of the rally - there are multiple classes of vehicles.

you need not believe every police report at face value, there are professional story writers in every police station. Their main job is to write and exaggerate various instances in CYA mode.

I cannot believe that an Indian road worthy 150cc rice rocket is capable of 150 kmph on kuchcha roads.
