VW developing TC4-A Vento 1.8 TSI race car

Volkswagen Motorsport India is developing the TC4-A Vento 1.8 TSI race car for its customer sport program. The new race cars are being built to comply with the TC4-A regulations set by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).

The TC4-A regulations are based on the current Indian Touring Car (ITC) regulations. The race cars are required to have turbocharged engines no larger than 2,000 cc and a turbo inlet restrictor of 30 mm. The minimum weight of the race car is restricted to 1,150 kg.

The TC4-A Vento race car will be powered by a 1.8-litre TSI engine mated to a 3MO sequential gearbox with a manual gearshift lever. As part of the testing phase, two cars will be driven by Karthik Tharani and Ishaan Dodhiwala in the 2018 National Championship season.

As they are Homologated, would these be available to the public for road use.

! I wish. Nope, these will never make it to your regular VW showroom. Wish someone in VW's product planning department was a petrol-head enough to take the bold move and launch a limited edition like this. It would certainly help VW's image a lot more than motorsport racing (which, admit it, no one really watches).

If that was the case then no manufacturer in the world would have a motorsport program!

Also, a customer program is essentially just that! An option for a customer to buy one of these race cars (to race/use on the race track)
