Routes

The best combination is using Google Maps plus Google Earth. Open Street Map (OSM) are equally great resource as sometimes you can find lot more local information.

Do you know on OSM you can get individual pylon number on map sourced through Power'Grid Corporation? Or details of each irrigation channel?

Waypoints

Along the route waypoints are recorded and noted by going over the route by person (s) making the road book. Definitely places where you have to deviate or leave one road and takes a turn are noted. In addition other important points like a very tiresome speed breaker or patch of broken road or police check post etc.

All these need to be incorporated in road book.

Cautions

Along any route there could be special places that require extra care from drivers. It could be a school where children are likely to run across the road. Or it could be a broken bridge with diversion.

This information has to be captured in roadbooks.

Group drives

Using roadbooks can make drives so much easier! No more having to constantly regroup and waste time especially when crossing towns and cities. No worries for the whole group if one member has to take bio break. Important stops like lunch halt marked do that no one has to stand on road junction to make sure every one gets there.

All these can be shared through simple roadbook.
