The Shimla Motorcycle Challenge '08 - Round 2 - 19/20th April Team Avalanche has launched a Motorcycle Championship in Shimla for 2008. The format of the event is a series of 4 races, held on a Sunday every third. It is a one-day affair every time with a singular road section, approximately 8 km in length and forming a loop. Each rider is allowed 3 laps of the section, 2 pre-lunch and 1 post lunch. Riders are flagged off at 2 minute intervals. The section is a mix of uphill and downhill tarmac as well as uphill and downhill gravel. Riders will accumulate championship points in every round, with the final winner being declared as the 'Shimla Motorcycle Champion'. The core objective of the champsihip is to provide an opportunity to riders to test and hone their riding skills in a safe, competetive and organised environment at a very affordable cost. Entry fees is only Rs.500 to Rs.700 per round. It is an FMSCI approved championship.
Round 1 of the Challenge was a great success, held on 27th January, with 25 riders from all across north India taking the start. Dates for Round 2 of The Shimla Motorcycle Challenge have been fixed as the 19th and 20th of April 2008.
