I am all about custom projects. Classic design with modern running gear and not just any running gear engine, drive train and interior from an e39 M5. A classic with 400hp. This thing is awesome!

Truly classy! I don't understand the big deal over "originality" and using only authentic technologically-outdated parts. I do like some old designs, yet would like the mechanicals to be contemporary.

Best part of using E39 mechanicals = MANUAL transmission

A n00b question. What is the market moniker of E9? This looks a slightly smaller version of yesteryears 635i.

I always thought that restoration was about taking an old car (a beautiful one) and hooking it up with a modern technology fast engine. But then most of the restorations I have seen are with the same old engine. Always wondered why..! (no offense to fellows who love old engines)

Restore a beautiful old car, and people will look at you (your car) when you pass by them.
Restore a beautiful old car with the latest technology power-plant, and people will drool when you pass by them. That's the way to go.

E9's are the are 2800cs and the 3.0CSL. They were the precursor to the 6 series. The 3.0 CSL has been know as the "Bat Mobile" and also used as BMW art cars.
