All new 2013 Porsche Cayman gets rendered taking cues from the already spied Boxster.

The official presentation of all-new Porsche Boxster roadster earlier this month afforded us a pretty good idea of what it's coupe sibling, the new Cayman, will look like, both inside and out.
There is of course a matter of proportions and the shape of the tin top, but that too can be solved with a little bit of imagination along with some help from the numerous spy shots that have circulated around the internet the last year.

Enter the digital world of photoshop artist Wild Speed who created a series of renderings of the 2013 Cayman for the Porscheboost website.

Like the Boxster, the new Cayman will benefit from a lightweight aluminum body, which along with some other improvements may help shed as much as 50kg (110 pounds) compared to the current model.

Unless Porsche has a surprise in store for us, the Cayman should get the same pair of improved flat six engines as the Boxster with a displacement of 2.7-liters and 3.4-liters, with more sportier version like the R model to join the range in due time.

Well.. It's about time!

The next-generation Porsche Cayman was caught during a high-speed test on a German motorway recently. It looks unmistakably like a Cayman i.e. a Boxster with a fixed roof.

The new Boxster was recently revealed and made available, so the Cayman couldn't have been far behind.

High points:

You only had to look at the new Boxster to imagine what a stunner the Cayman will be. Supremely excited! To me, the Cayman defines what an enjoyable sportscar ought to be. Just the right amount of power (300+ BHP), quick (0 - 100 in <5 seconds for the S) and mind-numbing agility & grip. As Caymans have always been, the next-gen will be nowhere as intimidating as a 911 (and other supercars). Best part is, you have the choice of a 6 speed manual transmission :D

Good, clean fun. Can hardly wait for the unveiling. My only worry is the Boxsters & Caymans are getting more & more expensive, no?

That's 458/GT-R/LF-A territory man! To be precise the '12 Boxster S did it in 7:58 minutes, undercutting the 'Vette C6 ZR51 and the Viper SRT-10 by just a second. The C63 AMG Coupe did it in 8.01 minutes.

....

Like the previous generation, this one looks like it will be just as amazing! It never ceases to amaze me how Porsche can keep making perfection better. clap:

That's what I thought too. But beating the SRT-10 is a mighty achievement!

This one I reckon would feather the 1-crore mark when it lands on our shores late next year. :(

Oops, that was a typo, I meant 2 seconds. Corrected. :p

I can't wait for the Cayman R. That should be quite promising. I must say the newer generation Porsches are growing on me. The 991 included.

Sir, I guess this must be a Cayman S or R not just a cayman. A normal cayman does not sport a retractable rear spoiler. I just spotted a Cayman today on my way to office and was wondering what more could they do to improve the car which already looks perfectly balanced. Man its quick. He took a corner (must have been at 180+ fr sure!) with ease and grace. Sight to watch!

Saw a yellow old (first-gen) Cayman at the CCI the other day and I couldn't help noticing how subtle styling changes over the years have made the car look SO much better than it used to look. The slightly more macho look that the Cayman wears today is so much better.

I drove a sludgebox Accord for two years and I will never, ever go back; even if you prove beyond a shadow of doubt that new DSG trick sludgeboxes are quicker, blah, blah, blah. There's a special kind of joy that comes from driving stick that only a petrolhead will ever understand.

MUCH more expensive than they originally were. Another manufacturer that's very guilty of doing successive hikes with each model refresh is Nissan with the GTR. :(

The new Cayman looks to be powerful, efficient yet having no compromise in performance departmant. And, from the pictures, I can say that the front resembles a crocodile. I am also eagerly waiting for it to be reveiled. However, as GTO said, there will be a hike in prices and what more, be ready to shell out 1 crore considering the import duties of India.

P.S. Does anyone know when this model will make it's International debut?

Great scoop indeed... its more than about time :)
At least this is something to cheer for the real Porsche aficionados, especially with the fact that Panamera and Cayanne sales are about 2/3 of all Porsche sales worldwide, and the figures could go further high once the Macan go on sale.

OMG ! From the rear it gets the Panamera'ish treatment :Shockked:

Or is it just me who thinks that the rear windshield is just too pulled back & the boot almost omitted !?

Funny how from the front 3 quarter view the boot looks chunky & at-least visible, but as soon as see from the rear 3 quarter view the car looks almost like a hatchback.

Frankly i'd like my Porsche if its having a more chunkier rear something like a spoiler would do , something like we see on the 911 GT3 RS; :thumbs up

The roof-section is almost a carry-forward of the previous generation Cayman. Nothing new here, really. It just looks like a Boxster with a roof and a new bumper.

I still prefer the way the Boxster looks. The cayman is a nice option for those who positively hate soft-top sports-cars.
