From the pictures it looks like the height of the car has been reduced as compared to the older models. Somehow I liked the previous model, mainly due to the fact that I am tall and also from a relative affordability perspective.

Any idea what is the price range they would offer it for? Anything under 25 lakhs on-road would be great I feel. But from a brand image perspective will Mercedes even try to sell models below 25 lakhs ? Will they start losing their "LUXURY" and "EXCLUSIVE" tags if they have cars below the 25L cut-off !!!

I cant understand the dimensions of this car from the pictures. How long and/or tall is this? Does this compare to an i20, a Jazz, the forthcoming Q3, what?

I too concur. It looks like the Chevy SRV mated with the Fluidic Verna and out came this Merc A class.

It is a great looking car! It is simply screaming for a hot-hatch 'A63-AMG' version, if ofcourse they can fit that monster in it. With respect to the pics from the facebook page, doesn't the front look like its trying to hypnotize you with the grill?

Yaawnnn!! another ungainly design from Mercedes! Look at the Audi's and BMW's (just the design and not owning one!!), they have design and the design itself has some character! this car lacks both! Design offers nothing new, 'in my opinion'. To me, the previous generation models had some identity!

BSM says:

The new A-Class is well on its way (it’s expected to be here early next year) and it may wear a hefty price tag of around Rs 18-20 lakh

Given the sheer sales numbers BMW and Audi are chalking up today, IMHO the A-Class will be a hit even at this price. This car is much more acceptable to the typical Indian taste than the B-Class as well.

If they can keep the length under 4M and supply a 1.4L diesel then it will even qualify for tax break
