Geneva Motor Show 2012

Could find this topic yet! Hence starting a thread on the same.

Few items which I could gather over net. It would be better if folks who have visited
can throw in more details.
4 New Up Concepts by VW
Tata Mega Pixel Concept
Nissan Compact
Ford B-Max

Few Notes:

- Looks like none of them are meant for India, including Ford B-Max.
- I was hoping they may use B-Max as a replacement for Figo.
- But this was not confirmed by Ford.
- They however seem to mention, the product is meant for world markets
- There is a fair chance, it may come to India. But that is quite some time.
- The Nissan concept looks good, but they need dealerships before they start handling volume.
- That process has is already started with Sunny and Micra.
- Hope this concept one makes it to India.

Re: Geneva Motor Show 2012

The Tatas have done a brilliant job of the megapixel. It looks simply stunning in the official release video. Especially with all the lights in the front. I would literally beg Tata to do something real cool with the car and make a production version of it. Just thinking aloud here, how about a megapixel not with fancy electric motors and stuff but a 1L turbo charged petrol, similar to the one in the Ford Ecosport? What say guys?

The Fuel Efficient Polo BlueGT

" Volkswagen unveiled the sporty and fuel efficient version of their popular hatchback the Polo called the Polo BlueGT. The secret behind the Polo getting the extra performing and fuel efficient is the Active Cylinder Management (ACT). The ACT technology of Volkswagen has been implemented in the 1.4 litre TSI engine of the Volkswagen Polo BlueGT. This 1.4 litre engine develops a power output of 140 PS while having a fuel consumption figure of just 4.7 litre/100km. CO2 emission figures stand at 108g/km of CO2.
Geneva Motor Show 2012-volkswagen_pologt.jpg
In Active Cylinder Management, the second and third cylinders are shut down (fuel supply is cut off) under low and medium load conditions which increases the fuel economy. In case of EU driving cycle, the equates to about an increase of 0.4 litre/100km. ACT becomes active at engine speeds from 1,250 to 4,000 rpm, and at torque outputs from 25 to approx. 100 Nm. When you need power, you simply floor the accelerator pedal and he two cylinders are imperceptibly reactivated. thanks to an accelerator pedal sensor and intelligent monitoring software, the system can also detect non-uniform driving profiles – such as while driving through traffic or in a sporty manner when driving on a country road. In such cases, cylinder shutoff is disabled. The driver is informed whether two or four cylinders are active by an indication in the multifunction display located between the speedometer and tachometer."

Among other Fiat cars, what caught my eye was this Bravo. Not so long ao, Fiat had plans to launch this in India, but they later shelved it. I hope the Indo-EU FTA helps in pricing this car lower and make it available for us.

Re: Geneva Motor Show 2012

Ferrari Reveals F12 Berlinetta

The fastest and most powerful road car it has ever produced.

The 3,360-lb supercar can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds, thanks to its naturally aspirated 6.3-liter, 740-hp V-12 engine. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch F1-type transmission.

The F12 Berlinetta replaces Ferrari’s 599 GTB Fiorano coupe, which in its most powerful form produces a mere 670 hp. The new car weighs 154 lbs less, emits 30% less carbon dioxide and is 20% more fuel efficient, according to the company.

Ferrari says the F12 Berlinetta has twice the aerodynamic efficiency of the 599 GTB Fiorano, yet generates more downforce—without the need for any add-on spoilers or wings. A domed hood contributes downforce and helps direct airflow to the sides of the car to reduce aerodynamic drag. The car is fitted with electronically controlled brake cooling ducts that close during sedate driving, which also contributes to lower drag.

To improve vehicle dynamics, the F12 Berlinetta’s center of gravity is lower and further back than in the 599. The new model also is about 2 inches shorter, 2.5 inches lower and nearly an inch narrower.

Ferrari says the car’s aluminum chassis incorporates aerospace-type high-strength extrusions. The resulting bodywork weighs 110 lbs less and has 21% greater structural rigidity compared to the 599

Re: Geneva Motor Show 2012

Got these pictures in an email from a friend. Hope that none of these have been posted already, and hope everyone likes them.

There are a number of pics, so the post may take some time to load.

Many of the cars have only the manufacturer name mentioned, no model numbers are mentioned. Also, I don't know what the car is in 3 pictures right at the end. And about the last 2 pictures (the white car) out of the 4 posted for Lexus, I am a little doubtful if they are indeed Lexus. Looks like some other manufacturer. If any one can contribute/confirm about these, would be very helpful.
