Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engine wins International Engine of the Year 2012

The next logical step for the Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engine was to get the International Engine of the year. So, it did exactly that by comprehensively beating the 2 time champion (2009 and 2010), the VW 1.4 TSI Twincharger. Surprisingly enough, the Defending champion i.e. the 875cc Fiat Twin-Air Turbo, doesn't even feature in the top 10 this year.

More Details here:

Re: Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engine wins International Engine of the Year 2012

This might be the future engine for our figos.
Looks like a tiny bore with a really long stroke.
What have they done to damp the vibrations?
Any innovations in the design?

Ford builds two-millionth EcoBoost engine in four years

Ford's 1.0 L Ecoboost engine technology was the talk of the town when Ecosport made its presence felt in our market.

Today, Ford just produced its 2 millionth EcoBoost engine – a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder – which rolled off the assembly line in Louisville, Kentucky under the hood of an Escape.

Ford now offers five EcoBoost engines around the world ranging from the 1.0-liter inline-three which finds its place in the Ecosport, to the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, and the automaker is expanding production of two of its engine lines to keep up with demand.

Earlier this year, Ford announced that the 2.0-liter EcoBoost would be built in Cleveland, Ohio starting in 2014 and, more recently, Ford said that it will be doubling production of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost in Germany. That turbo-three will also be produced in China at a new Ford engine plant in Chongqing.

An interesting trivia from the press release
-More than 100,000 EcoBoost engines now produced every month, with a target of 1.2 million for 2013, up more than 60 percent from 2012. For the first time, EcoBoost production expected to exceed Ford's global diesel-engine production.
