| Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engine wins International Engine of the Year 2012 The next logical step for the Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engine was to get the International Engine of the year. So, it did exactly that by comprehensively beating the 2 time champion (2009 and 2010), the VW 1.4 TSI Twincharger. Surprisingly enough, the Defending champion i.e. the 875cc Fiat Twin-Air Turbo, doesn't even feature in the top 10 this year.
