2013-14 Seat Leon revealed - Next Fabia hints at similar body style

Finally Seat revealed their new Leon, which is based on the same platform that is going to be used for the new Polo and new Fabia. Traditionally VAG launches platforms in SEAT first (like the SEAT Toledo) and then Skoda (SEAT Toledo = Skoda European Rapid), and finally bringing it to VW.

So that now the SEAT Leon has been revealed, expect the new Fabia to be showcased shortly. Significant Changes inside out as per Autoblog from the outgoing model/platform that is shared with the current Polo/Fabia.

Cant wait to see the Fabia on this body/platform.

Re: 2013-14 Seat Leon revealed - Next Fabia hints at similar body style

This news comes quite in line with another blog I saw about the 2014 Fabia. At least, in the looks department, they do look identical.

http://indianautosblog.com/2012/04/2...abia-rendering

Frankly, with this exterior appearance, the Fabia would still remain the LESSER cousin just the way VW wants it to be.

However the good news is there is speculation tha there would be "new generation" TDI and TSI. Hoooray!

But 2014 ? Err. I think I maybe in queue for the Yeti. :P

Actually loved the exterior look and a new fabia based on this could up the game in the segment. I would make the Fabia look almost Jazz sized. Hope they can keep prices in check.

Re: 2013-14 Seat Leon revealed - Next Fabia hints at similar body style

All-new Skoda Fabia to be unveiled in 2014.

Skoda is readying its next generation Fabia which will be based on Skoda’s new VisionD design philosophy.
Set for an unveiling in the last quarter of 2014, the Fabia will be manufactured on new shorter version of the Golf’s MQB platform.

Though positioned alongside the Polo, the Fabia will be the first small car from the VW group to implement the new platform which will eventually be inherited by the VW Polo, the SEAT Ibiza and Audi A1.

Rumors are that the new Fabia will feature aggressive styling, with a wider front grille, angular headlights and LED tail-lamps. The upswept C-pillar from the current model is expected to be carried forward to the new generation while also offering contrasting colours for the roof, wheels and door mirror caps.

But things might be a lot different when the new model comes to India, as by then Skoda will start manufacturing engine / transmission in India significantly brining down overall cost.

It looks like Skoda/SEAT customers are guinea pigs for VW, note the sequence of implementation Fabia, Polo, Ibiza then A1.
Fabia Scout came first then comes Polo Cross. I sense a try to save the reputation of VW badge here, in case the experiment goes wrong only Skoda/SEAT to blame, VW and Audi walks free!

The Vento was an exception, where Rapid follows Vento.

http://www.carscoops.com/2013/09/nex...-rs-range.html

In other but related, as well as sad news, Skoda plans to drop the RS range from the next generation Fabia due to insignificant sales. Here's what SKoda CEO Winfried Vahland had to say about the new generation Fabia, expected to be launched next year.

Quote:
“With the Octavia RS, we made around an eight percent penetration into the market. With the Fabia RS, it was less than one percent,” Vahland told TopGear. "Although people didn’t buy the Fabia RS, they still wanted the feel of the hot-hatch," he added.

“People want to have the look of an RS, but don't need an engine that they can’t afford”, he said. Above that, “the Fabia RS was too expensive in Europe,” Vahland acknowledged. “Customers wanted the sports seats, the alloys, the bodykit, but they also wanted the functionality of a normal Fabia. And anyway, if you really want a vRS, get an Octavia," Skoda boss added.

He gave the example of the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo special edition, which sports a similar styling and equipment package as the RS, minus the engine. “When we introduced the Monte Carlo trim line, we estimated we would sell around 3,000 cars. We ended up producing 20,000,” Vahland pointed out.

Next-generation Skoda Fabia coming next.

Set to be introduced sometime next year, the redesigned model will have similar dimensions to its predecessor.
It will get a totally new design, with optimized proportions, so it will be slightly wider and lower and more attractive, but it will stay a very compact car.Expected a variety of fuel-efficient engines as well as high-tech infotainment systems.
