So the people at Jeep took out a page from the worlds ugliest cars and made this .

To me the front(specially the headlight layout) has an uncanny resemblance to the Pontiac Aztek which by no surprise is a strong competitor in the top 10 ugly cars of the world.:-

They have made it look ugly.

This is probably the least Jeep like vehicle they have build so far.
The broken grill is good but the grill on bumper is too like the one found in Kia Optima and less said about those headlights, the better it is.

The 2014 Cherokee is be based loosely on the Dodge Dart chassis. Most observers, outside of Chrysler itself, believe it will be less off-road capable than the Liberty, with a single Trail Rated version which, hopefully, matches or bests the current Trail Rated Liberty. It is likely to be tougher than its direct competition — better able to take the abuse of rocky trails and sudden falls or deep pot-holes — with better traction in dirt, sand, and snow, and superior water-crossing.

Reliable source oh2o wrote, “The Cherokee will get a lot of the features that are in the 2014 Grand Cherokee, such as headlamps with LED DRLs, seven-inch TFT configurable gauge cluster, 8.4 inch radios, UConnect updates, etc.”

Recent patents show what is likely to be used in the Cherokee for four-wheel grip: AWD, locked 4WD-high, locked 4WD-low, and a rear disconnect with sliding fork engagement all appear in one drawing. Bob Sheaves, observing patent applications, wrote that it was similar to the New Venture 242 transfer case, with a 90-degree output to the rear axle.” (The NV242 has been used on past Jeeps including the Grand Cherokee.)

That front is inexplicable. Why would any company do it? The grille is kind of okay, but the lights totally ruin it. Even the side profile looks very clumsy.

I will be frightened if this thing shows up on my rear view mirror. And I really feel like saying that line from 'The Predator'.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been revealed ahead of its official debut at the New York Motor Show later today.

The Jeep 4x4 has three levels of off-road ability. Buyers can choose from traditional four-wheel drive, an upgraded system with a low-range mode and a top-spec set-up with a rear-locking differential.

A Trailhawk model features the latter as standard, as well 
as unique bumpers for better approach and departure angles. It also rides one inch higher.

Joining the Trailhawk in the range will be Cherokee Sport, Latitude and Limited models.The new Cherokee will become the first car on sale with a nine-speed auto box, and is powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine or a 3.2 V6 in the US. Buyers here are likely to be offered a 2.0-litre diesel, too.

It will arrive in the UK in June to take on the Ford Kuga, Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V. The Jeep Cherokee price is expected to start at £24,000.

2014 Jeep Cherokee delayed.

Delay due to powertrain tweaks, August or September still planned for public release date.

The media event -- in which waves of national and foreign journalists were to gather in Seattle between Aug. 8 and 14 to drive the Cherokee for the first time -- was delayed until at least the first half of September, according to an email from the automaker

Transmission issues delays the 2014 Cherokee?The automaker idled the 500-worker shift at its Toledo Assembly Complex on Monday, Sept. 23, because a large number of Cherokees had been built but not yet released to dealers.

The company said that progress on a fix is being made. It's unclear when shipments to dealers will start.

Deliveries of 12,000 Jeep Cherokees blocked due to gearbox programming issues.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is turning out to be a huge problem for Chrysler because aside from its heavily criticized front fascia, the crossover has issues with the ZF-developed nine-speed automatic transmission.

Initially, the car was supposed to enter production phase in May, but it was delayed until June and after that postponed until September. Production eventually started but we are in mid-October and Chrysler hasn't delivered any cars and they haven't provided an exact market release date even though 12,000+ units have been already built.

The gearbox problem has to do with its incapability of adapting to the driver's style and as a result the shift quality is not very good.

Once the problem will be sorted out, those 12,000+ cars will receive suitable software updates.

Overdue Cherokees are on their way at last, expects to begin delivering Cherokees over the next 10 days.

Cherokees being delivered for testing

The Cherokees were due in dealerships almost two months ago but have been held while Chrysler developed and installed new software to smooth out the way the engine, nine-speed transmission and innovative disconnecting drivetrain interact.

To make sure the powertrain is working right, the automaker has been test driving each Cherokee before it is released for delivery.

Receives a 5 star Euro NCAP rating, but..


The Jeep Cherokee also provides five star, but he cut in terms of pedestrian protection with 67 percent of the worst in this test round from.
The front edge of the bonnet and the windscreen (bottom / side) can in a collision with in serious, even fatal injuries to passers result.

In return, the occupants may feel very safe with 92 percent, even if the tester during side impact saw a moderate risk here.

For the safety systems it received 74 points.
