These are the absolute first spy pics of the car which is currently under testing. The upgraded V8 is said to churn out figures in the ballpark of 600hp and it goes without saying that the car will be stripped to bare essentials.

Was quite some time since read any news from T-BHP's official "Supercar Spy" .
It was just 2 hrs back the 458 Italia was crowned as Fifth Gear's favourite "Fast Car", this new version with more power will be definitely better.

When you say it will only have the bare minimum features, apart from straps for door handles what else does the car get in place of the standard features ?

Weight reduction, power increase and faster gear changes are on the cards.600 hp and approximately 100 kgs lighter than the standard 458, needless to say this one is going to be so fast.

The relocated exhaust pipes and the new wheels are definitely giving it looks to die for!
With such heavy camouflaging it still looks great and we can expect it to be great!

The relocated exhaust pipes suggest a working diffuser.

The power gains are all good and such, but I think Ferrari needs to focus on outright grip. Handling is what will make this car win or lose against the 12C and the Cabrerra.

Update:: A friend's friend has placed an order for a 458 MC in Dubai.

The figures he received is in the ballpark of 620hp and from a few early photographs, the car is said to have a few styling features from the LaFerrari.

A private preview would be held in Italy soon and the public debut later this year. Deliveries would commence in January

Previews for the 'Versione Speciale' will commence next week. Middle east and Asia owners will have thier preview on Sep 6th. Versione Speciale is probably just a moniker used for the invitation. Word is that power is up to 620 hp.

The Speciale does look fantastic, although I could do without the stripe.

What I am really impressed by is the 3.0 sec 0-100 time. It's cutting 4 tenths from the normal car, and coming from a rear-wheel drive car! The traction from the new specially designed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires must be absolutely insane.

The engine, I would have thought would have >600 HP, but 597 is not bad for a car that weighs just 1290 kg!

I really like the new rear end though, looks really nice, which I did not think it would as it was losing the 458's signature triple tailpipes..

A lighter, more powerful version of its mid-engine supercar, the Speciale produces 597bhp (up from the standard car’s 562bhp) and 398lb ft of torque from its naturally aspirated 4.5-litre V8 engine. What’s more, that peak power output is delivered at 9,000rpm.

The performance figures are equally impressive, the Speciale accelerating from 0-62mph in 3.0sec and 0-124mph in 9.1sec. It weighs 1,290kg without fluids, a reduction of 90kg over a standard 458 Italia.

Aside from the engine, other modifications to the Speciale include the fitment of bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, a new electronics system called Side Slip Angle Control (SSC), which uses the traction control and electronically controlled locking differential to help balance the torque between the rear wheels during a slide, plus changes to the aerodynamics including moveable flaps on the front and rear. These balance downforce and reduce drag depending on the car’s velocity.



Ferrari claims that the 458 Speciale has lapped its Fiorano test track in 1min 23.5sec, 1.5sec quicker than the car on which it is based and just 0.5sec slower than the 730bhp F12 Berlinetta. It can also achieve 1.33g in lateral acceleration - the highest of any Ferrari road car.
The 458 Speciale follows on from the 360 Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia as a lighter, more powerful mid-engine V8 supercar designed for circuit drivers. It also features a stripe running down its bodywork - a trademark of these track specials.

Well, the exterior is a little hard to chew on, especially after one's eyes are completely drunk on the regular 458, but it does look more hardcore with those go-faster design elements. So it justifies it's existence.

The interior is pure nuts. Just look at that shark fin carbon fiber thingy jutting out from the center! These people are showing the future, right now.

As per the Ferrari Website the power rating is not 597 bhp it is 605bhp!.

The aerodynamic efficiency (an E index of 1.5), a more powerful aspirated V8 engine (605bhp) and the highest power density (135 bhp/l) in the history of Ferrari road cars, an extraordinary power-to-weight ratio (2.13bhp/kg)
