Flagship vehicles across the globe

This is a term often used in the automotive world. A flagship vehicle is the one considered to be at the top of an automotive manufacturer's line up. This vehicle is usually the most expensive and prestigious the marque has to offer.

A flagship is the vehicle that automotive marques would want CEOs and residents of organizations, governments and dignitaries to purchase as their top personal transport. These vehicles can easily facilitate executive style transportation.

Some automotive companies may have more than one flagship as the title may be given to the top vehicle in each body style, for example
a flagship sedan
a flagship coupe
or a flagship sport utility vehicle
the flagship SUV may be a crossover

The full size sedan is usually the main flagship of the manufacturer and classic examples are the Lexus LS, the Mercedes Benz S Class, the BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8.

Just like cars I have similar enthusiasm towards mobile phones which I follow keenly and each year we have a flagship model available. Say for example: Samsung's flagship model as of now is S4, Apple - Iphone 5s, LG - G2, HTC - HTC One and so on... And we know which mobile is flagship for whom but similar stress misses out in cars (at-least in India).

Good one. Enthusiasm shown by electronic and mobile Manufacturers who bring their flagship models to India, is rarely seen in auto industry. Primary reason being price, tax structure, market maturity and affordability.
Simple example : while buying a flagship phone, rarely people ask about build quality or battery backup. On other hand, while buying a car, most of them consider the kmpl and maintenance costs.

I too wish that some of our manufacturers bring their globally successful models to India soon, and provide us more value for money.
