Re: Renault-Nissan alliance and Mitsubishi join hands

I would really hate to see another badge-engineered project from Renault Nissan. JUst got a thought that they might launch a new Lancer based on the Sunny! :(

Re: Renault-Nissan alliance and Mitsubishi join hands

This marriage has all the signs of a possible failure, unless it is really well planned, managed and executed - both brands have no good reputation in quality and their recent struggles are well documented.

Re: Renault-Nissan alliance and Mitsubishi join hands

I hope this does not translate to Sunny and Micra carrying Mitsubishi logo and face!!
Or Mitsubishi launching Micra based Sedan.

Look at Mitsubishi Attrage. Its mentioned that this is based on Mitsubishi Mirage however I see Nissan Sunny/Micra in it

By the way Mitsubishi Mirage was rated a max of 3 out of 10 by most of the car reviewers worldwide.

Re: Renault-Nissan alliance and Mitsubishi join hands

Renault-Nissan has only begun rooting itself into Indian soil. Hm-mitsubishi alliance was underwhelming for mitsubishi at best. This might give all the three companies something to look forward to and yes, i hope the car lovers benefit too.

P.S: Was attrage a product of mitsubishi alone? Looks kind of average at best. I find a whole of "Sunny" in it.

Re: Renault-Nissan alliance and Mitsubishi join hands

Nissan Sunny
Renault Scala
And now presenting - Mitsubishi Attrage.

One word:

Just wonder the plight of customers. No one of the three brands have a decent after sales service.
And they are rolling out products based on the same platform, not even attempting at exciting customers with something new.

Re: Renault-Nissan alliance and Mitsubishi join hands

I would have liked if one of the Indian manufacturers would have tied up with Mitsubishi. We need their technical expertise and they need the numbers.

I dont see what Renault-Nissan gets out of this. No market or expertise.

This is no surprise to me. I have read an article in newspaper some time back that individual auto company won't survive in future. They have to join hands. Only 3-4 shall survive in long run. May be that prediction or whatever we call it is coming true. We already have Big groups like VW, FIAT etc.
Only thing is that they should release their own products. ASC should be jointly managed. Only then customers shall also be benefitted.

Mitsubishi Motors joins Renault-Nissan Alliance

Nissan Motor Co. has acquired 34% equity stake in Mitsubishi Motor Corporation and has thus become its largest share holder.

With the addition of Mitsubishi Motor Corporation, the Renault-Nissan alliance will be in the world’s top three automotive groups by global volumes.

Excerpts

“The combination of Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors and Renault will create a new force in global car-making,” said Ghosn. “It will be one of the world’s three largest automotive groups, with the economies of scale, breakthrough technologies and manufacturing capabilities to produce vehicles to serve customer demand in every market segment and in every geographic market around the world.”

“We are committed to assisting Mitsubishi Motors as it rebuilds customer trust,” said Ghosn. “This is a priority as we pursue the synergies and growth potential of our enlarged relationship.”

Ghosn concluded: “At a time of unprecedented change in the global auto industry, this strategy will build on our existing strengths and management capabilities to ensure increased competitiveness, better products for our customers and attractive returns for shareholders.”
