Is the all new Land Rover LR2 a replacement for the freelander?

LR2 Revealer (Source:Worldcarfans.com)

I like it, but its still not as sexy as the RR and RRS...

is it something that will be a replacement for the freelander with a different name or a totaly different segment?

Same segment, will be called Freelander in Europe but will be released as LR2 in US.

Freelander / LR2

to add to islero's post ->
Land Rover wanted to improve the looks of the Freelander to make it appear "butch" as the previous generation car had softer looks - contrary to the traditional strong Land Rover design - which weren't appealing to a lot of prospective Land Rover buyers.
