Gumball 3000 Rally, 2014: Miami to Ibiza

Gumball 3000 is a fast rich and infamous British international motor rally conducted annually. It is a 3000 mile rally and is based on a movie “The Gumball Rally “released in 1976. Maximillion Cooper who was a race car driver, skateboarder and an entrepreneur started this rally in 1999.

This year’s Gumball300 rally kicked off from South beach Miami and finishing it in the party capital Ibiza. The race was spread over two continents via motor racing circuits, football stadiums and castles, 2014 Gumballers were given the adventure of a lifetime. From the sunshine and parties of Miami, the supercars cruised through the state of Florida towards Georgia and the famous Southern hospitality of Atlanta. New York provided the next stopover, where the drivers enjoyed a day of money-can’t-buy VIP hospitality, while all 120 supercars were loaded onto cargo planes and flown over the Atlantic to Scotland – with the Gumballers on private jets not far behind.

Leaving skyscrapers behind for lochs and highlands, drivers roared through Scotland before heading south to the home of Gumball – London. From there it crossed the channel to the slick chic of Paris, then through France and Spain to the stunning city of Barcelona. The home stretch was just a short drive and ferry ride to the finish line in Ibiza which was ready for an explosive finale celebration weekend.

The main spectacle of this rally is the exotic cars that participate in it. Celebrities and the rich people who drive those exotic cars add a charm to the event. When I say exotic cars I am talking about cars like McLaren P1, a car that is built straight from Formula 1 technology, Bugatti Veyron`s, Lamborghini`s, Ferrari`s. The list could go on forever - it even includes Batman’s Tumbler. Yes, the Gumball 3000 is so exclusive, even Batman can’t miss it. Picture $700,000 supercars drifting around American canyons, giant Brabus 6x6 utes dwarfing every vehicle in sight and the sound of V12s roaring through European tunnels. The Gumball 3000 is the only place you will see all these together

Celebrities and lesser known with a lot of money are regular starters in the Gumball 3000 rally. Just to enter, this year’s entrants have to fork out $80,000 ... and that’s in addition to the fact they all have to drive an insanely fast vehicle. With most entrants personally invited to race by Cooper himself, it’s an exclusive line-up each and every year. This year’s entrants include none other than David Hasselhoff, rappers Xhibit, Tinie Tempah and Eve, DJ Deadmau5 and Mythbusters host Tory Belleci. Other celebrities like pro-skater Tony Hawk, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Travis Pastrana from Nitro Circus fame have all competed, too. While charity is the ultimate beneficiary, the race brings with it some very dangerous driving in some seriously fast sports cars. In 2007, two people died after their car was hit by one of the Gumball 3000 competitors, while countless other participants have found themselves also paying off some pretty hefty speeding fines.
When the City of London agrees to close one of its busiest streets just so you can show them off, you know that you’re packing some seriously impressive wheels.

Some Indian presence on the Gumball grid, Team India's Lamborghini Aventador and Merc G 6x6. Both belong to the same guy.
