re: Spy Shots: BMW 1-Series 'Sedan' (F52). EDIT, now unveiled!

It looks good. I really like the way how it looks compact and desirable like the 80s 3 series. Too bad there is no RWD model. Hope the xDrive is dialed for more fun than grip or speed at least.

Is it a China only model? Reports say the 1 Series sedan was developed as a collaborative project between Bavaria and Chinese partner Brilliance Auto – a relationship that kicked off in the early 2000 and will be offered exclusively to the sedan-obsessed Chinese market.

This should be only for China. For the other markets, there is the RWD 2 series coupe, and probably the 2 series gran coupe.
And yes, the size and proportions of the 2 is just ideal; makes the 3 looks a bit too bloated.

A country specific boot addition job eh ? Feels a lot like the Maruti Dzire treatment that happened to the Suzuki Swift. I have mixed feelings about such things.

The boot looks well incorporated. The front screams of an amalgam of the M6(headlamps ?) and the 5 series, which looks delicious.
This seems like one of those cheaper younger siblings, who look better than the older ones.

And NO! it doesn't have the slightest design resemblance with Compact Sedan, the Indian contraption of sorts.

2 more photos of my favorite BMW sedan as of now. I really like the way it looks inside out and the overall proportions and size.

Hopefully, they will bring it here.

But will this be more like a Gran Coupe version of the 2? For me, the 2 is just right in size and proportion.

Is it RWD with longitudinal mounted engine? If not they can keep it in China.

New BMW 1 Series Sedan Launched In China

Priced Under INR 20 Lakh

Quote:
The BMW 1 Series Sedan has gone on sale in China with prices starting for CNY 2,04,800 (INR 19.90 lakh). A China only model for now, the 1 Series Sedan was first showcased at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November last year. It is manufactured by the BMW Group and BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture in China.

Based on the BMW Group’s front wheel drive UKL platform (the Mini’s base), the 1 Series Sedan is almost 170mm shorter in length than a 3 Series. Headlining features include LED head & tail lamps, a panoramic glass roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust tips, a HUD, along with an infotainment system with navigation, an 8.8-inch screen and a iDrive controller.

The 1 Series Sedan offers a 118i, a 120i and a 125i. The entry-level BMW 118i gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine (shared with the Mini Cooper) that produces 136 hp and 220 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

The BMW 120i gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (from the Cooper S) that develops 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque, while the 125i gets the same engine in a different state of tune producing 231 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Both the 120i and 125i get a 8-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels as standard.

Re: Spy Shots: BMW 1-Series 'Sedan' (F52). EDIT, now unveiled!

Compact dimensions, prestige badge, quality interiors and the typical family look, this car has everything going for it to be an aspirational product that provides a great entry point to the range. The dashboard will look even better if you swap out the regular steering wheel with the M Sport version

Rear wheel drive is overrated and BMW knows this well enough, that's why they're abandoning it for their smaller cars in the interests of efficiency and packaging. The X1 is a front wheel drive biased platform and they are barely able to meet demand, adding production in Hungary recently. .

A great way to enjoy a petrol BMW without breaking the bank, the 25i should be a great drive, if this model ever makes it to India.

Re: Spy Shots: BMW 1-Series 'Sedan' (F52). EDIT, now unveiled!

BMW 1 Series seen testing in Brazil, if launched will rival Audi A3.

Quote:
Despite the busted car with the logos covered, fonts connected to BMW say the Series 1 sedan only came to Brazil for testing the GPS system, and there is no intention to sell or manufacture the model around here. However, where there is smoke usually there is fire, and the truth is that the new sedan would make sense in our market, especially after series 3 is renewed
