Rolls-Royce Bespoke Ghost Mysore Collection I was quite intrigued to see many of my automotive disinterested friends share a post by Rolls-Royce on Facebook. The post was so popular on my timeline that I could have been forgiven for thinking that it had gone 'viral'. But then, the 'excitement' was restricted to only a limited circle, my Mysore friends, to be precise. A closer look at the post and having been a Mysore resident for more than a decade now, I understand what all that hoopla is about!
Here's an extract from the Rolls-Royce Motor cars official Facebook page.

Tipu Sultan was the ruler of 18th century Mysore in India. In Arabic, Mysore also refers to wealth and power. The Bespoke Ghost Mysore Collection takes inspiration from this, and each of these extended wheelbase models are adorned with symbols of success. Ghost Mysore will be available exclusively in Abu Dhabi. Only three have been created. |
Rolls-Royce had a long and successful association with Mysore kingdom, the Wodeyar kings having been great patrons of the brand. So its not surprising that they decided to pay 'homage' to the kingdom. But it would've been more apt, in my books at least, if they had gone the Wodeyar way instead of Tipu.
