Fifty extraordinary cars will be going up for auction on Aug. 17 during Christie's Exceptional Motor Cars auction.

Here are some of them.

1928 Mercedes Benz Type S Torpedo Roadster

Estimate: $3,000,000 to $4,000,000

This one was ordered by the wife of Charles Levine, who never returned to pay for the car after it was delivered to the Mercedes-Benz showroom in New York. The car sat in the showroom for months until Frederick Henry Bedford Jr. purchased it in 1929.

1952 Ferrari 225 Sport Spyder

Estimate: $1,200,000 to $1,500,000

This big-engined sports racer from Ferrari was built and ready to race in just two months. Racing under No. 443, this car posted the fastest time overall at the XII Tour of Sicily.

1963 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS Prototype

Estimate: $450,000 to $500,000

The third and final factory prototype before the 904 Carrera GTS was released in 1964, this vehicle was used as a test car.

1947 Bugatti Type 73C Racing car

Estimate: $300,000 to $500,000

This car can boast of being one of the last models created by Ettore Bugatti himself. After storing the car in a warehouse, a Belgian Bugatti dealer constructed it in 1960 and shipped it to the U.S. without a body. It wasn't until 1973 that it was fitted with a body to look the way it does today.

1954 Volkswagen Kombi Model 211 Microbus

Estimate: $30,000 to $40,000

This vehicle was purchased in 1954 and restored in 1994.

1959 Porsche 356 Carrera GT Speedster

Estimate: $250,000 to $300,000

The very last example of the Carrera Speedster ever built (and has the serial number to prove it). The vehicle was fully restored by Porsche with meticulous attention to detail.

1950 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Touring Limousine

Estimate: $120,000 to $200,000

Bidders will appreciate this car for its exterior design, but the elegant interior of walnut, wool, leather, and fabric is not something to overlook.

1960 Porsche 356 GTL Carrera-Abarth

Estimate: $600,000 to $800,000

Only 21 examples of the 1960 Porsche 356 GTL Carrera-Abarth were produced. The model was also successful on the racetrack, picking up awards for races in Europe during the 1960 and 1961 racing seasons.

Wow, thanks for the info ritik, I want that 904!!!!!!!!!

Oooh... I would just love to have the Bugatti Type 73C !!!

The paintjob for all the cars is absolutely immpecable! but its the Merc or the Ferrari for me please!

An anonymous and very generous benefactor has donated a Ferrari Enzo to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The car, a US-spec 2003 model, will be auctioned off on Friday, September 15.

One of only 400 Cars Ever Made, Bidding opens at $875,000.

Even the term 'very generous' wont be enuff to describe this donor. Ferrari wont be too pleased, but what the hell, this man/woman deserves appraisal and applause.clap:

Maybe he or she is glad to get rid of it? Maybe he or she is hiding a dark secret? Or maybe he or she is so nice, I would like to marry his or her daughter.
