Hyundai creates a huge tyre track image to send a message in Space

Car makers often use advertising to send a message to each other. Cheeky messages have often been used in the spirit of competitiveness and certainly give customers something to grin about. However, Hyundai has now chosen to send a message, not to a rival, but to an astronaut. The newly launched campaign titled ‘A Message to Space’ revolves around a 13 year old girl who wanted to send a message to her Astronaut father, who is often away for months at a stretch for missions in outer space on the International Space Station (ISS).

Using the Delamar Dry Lake in Nevada, USA as a blank canvas, Hyundai used 11 units of the Genesis luxury sedan to write a message from 13 year old Stephanie. The message covered an area that is said to be more than one and a half times the size of New York City’s Central Park. Experts from South Korea, Europe, and the United States gathered to successfully complete the ambitious project. Measuring 5.55 km2, the creation has been officially recognized as ‘the largest tire track image’ ever by Guinness World Records.

So a little kid contacts the big shots at Hyundai and the mighty company responds and tries to help her with this! How thoughtful! Really?

This is just another marketing campaign and Guinness record attempt disguised under some compassion to appeal to a larger audience.

Pretty sure it was Hyundai that contacted the family for the promotional stunt. Doesn't change the fact that this is quite an impressive feat and quite a way to promote the Genesis, building up on the driver-less convoy.

Hyundai Motor creates a huge tire track image to send a message in Space

Hyundai Genesis vehicles were used to create the incredible image, carefully planned to resemble a replica of a handwritten message from 12-year-old Stephanie to her astronaut father watching from space. The information has been derived from site for Guinness world records available here

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/...s-daugh-376905

Delamar Dry Lake in Nevada is the place where this was attempted.

Watched the video today. Very touching.
