I find this as a really good news. Have watched all the seasons of the previous avatar of TopGear. Jeremy and Hammond were the quintessential British blokes who would be unforgiving and brutally honest when it came to cars. When May joined them, he was sort of a misfit with his polished speech and eloquent manners, but I guess that's what worked for them. As the show progressed, each found his own footing and their digs at each other kept getting better as did the production values and of course the cars!clap:
I guess its the same with the new show. I especially like Rory Reid, his presentation style is entertaining, Chris Harris knows his stuff with LeBlanc being the crowd puller. I just wish, they would help Sabine with her presenting skills (her racing background and non-native English obviously doesn't help) and I really do not know what Eddie does on the show. I honestly think they could give LeBlanc more tongue-in-cheek stuff which suits him, get him to do the "star in the reasonably priced car" interviews and I'll be all set to enjoy this show again!!

:OT: Did anyone get grossed out watching Chris Evans do the tongue licking thing!? I sure was!

No Replacement For Evans At Top Gear; Show Will Go On Without Him

Quote:

Since Chris Evans officially called it quits after the first season of the new Top Gear, it was only natural to wonder who would replace him as the lead host.

There are lots of presenters out there who have what it takes to take the helm at Top Gear, but BBC reckons nobody could truly replace Evans (and his shouting), as the spectacle will go on without him, with the remaining presenters – Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, Rory Reid, Sabine Schmitz, and Eddie Jordan.

This information was confirmed to the Evening Standard by a BBC spokesperson, who also said that Evans chose to step down at his own accord and that the British public service broadcaster respects his decision:

"We have no immediate plans to replace Chris Evans and do not expect to do so going forward. Series 24 starts filming in September."

It’s unclear whether or not fan favorite Matt LeBlanc will advance as the main host of the show (he looks like the most likely candidate), as reports suggest that the BBC is in talks with the actor for another season.

A BBC statement on Top Gear said that Evans “firmly believes that the right people remain, on both the production team and presenting team to take the show forward and make it the hit we want it to be.”

The news of Evans’ resignation came after a report saying that BBC executives were not happy by Evans’ performance, both on- and off-camera.

Good News.. The Dacia Sandero is back.. stupid:

I mean its good that they are not replacing him. I kinda got the feeling that there were too many presenters to begin with. Sabine and Jordan should also be let go imo.

Sadly, there is no other politically-incorrect motoring show

Actually id say thats a good thing. Off late, in the later seasons i did feel that TG was actually banking more on these characters and personalities rather than the cars. This is why i love 5th Gear, the focus on always on driving, sounds, feel, of the cars. I hope TG changes are refreshing henceforth. As they say, why fill a new jar with old jam?

Bad as it is, you have got to commend the TG team with regard to beautiful shots and amazing music and transitions.
Good as TGT is, the camerawork and music is not even a patch on TG. Wonder why that is, considering they have may times more money for producing TGT?

BBC should shelve Top Gear. Saw the first episode of season 24, wasn't entertaining at all. Finished it because of the sceneries of Kazakhstan. The second episode, I couldn't even finish. It was so boring. The only funny part was when nobody cheered to Rory praising the Prius. Sorry but Top Gear, for me, had only 22 seasons.

Top Gear should be shut down.
It is nowhere near the show it was when the 3 monsters were running it.
Sorry to all the politically correct ones out there but hey, Jeremy and Hammond and Captain Slow OWNED that show.
BBC was just a facilitator.
Chris Evans simply couldn't cut it.

I stopped watching Top Gear right when the Trio left. And am happy watching them on PRIME instead.

.

I have watched it a few times. Obviously, the Chris episodes were just horrible. But, even without Chris I think it is just a lame extract from the original.

I think the biggest mistake they made is not to change the formulae. The formulae is just a reminder of the three boys and nobody can compete with them.

So TG really needs a complete overhaul, a new format before I will watch it again. I watched a few post Chris episodes but I just fell asleep. Before you know it they will turn it in a car show. I don’t need a car show. I need entertainment with the occasional car thrown in!

I cant believe I am writing this, I quite liked Episode 3 of the new Topgear Season 24. Its arguably the best episode since Jeremy left the show. Mat was really good with his Fiat 124 film and Rory was good with his VW Golf GTI Clubsport. Sabine was in her best form and gave a fresh breath of air to the studio. Tamsin Greig didnt make the trio uncomfortable like a few other guests and she didn't let Chris shout at her. I would still like Mr Harris to tone down and act less of a 'know it all - best driver of the trio'.
Again I hope they keep it up and we may afterall have two great car shows to watch.

Telegraph seems to agree with me.

It's turning more in a car show than an entertainment show based on car themes.

Top Gear presenters Chris Harris and Eddie Jordan have escaped unscathed after a car they were driving in Monaco burst into flames during filming.

Harris was behind the wheel of a new £50,000 Alpine sports car on Monte Carlo's SS17 stage with Jordan in the passenger seat driving up a hill on Monday morning, when its warning lights came on as the engine cut out.

They stopped the car immediately and the presenters made it out safely as flames emerged from underneath the vehicle.
