Hyundai has revealed the first renderings of its new range-topping Genesis G90 luxury sedan, which will get the EQ900 badge in Korea. The car is the first model from the newly launched Genesis sub-brand, and is part of six new launches planned till 2020, starting this December.

The model will be the South Korean automaker's new flagship offering, succeeding the Hyundai Equus, which will be phased out. The design resembles the current Hyundai Genesis sedan and styling cues include a plus sized front grille with horizontal slats, LED head and tail lights, door mounted wing mirrors, sharp body lines, chrome / silver lining around the bumpers and doors, along with a low slung and stretched C-pillar.

Powertrain options will include a range of high displacement petrols, with the the Korean, Chinese, North American and Middle Eastern luxury car markets being the first targets.

The launch of the G90 is scheduled for early next month in Korea, and the brand will directly target luxury car makers like Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Other models in the range will include the G80 and G70, with the alphanumerical nomenclature being used to represent the model's segment. Apart from sedans, the Genesis badge will also adorn an SUV, a crossover and a coupé.

The Side profile looks quite Teutonic and apart from the over the top radiator grille, the rest looks quite sober (read: understated).

Wow, that is a truly impressive design. I love the stance & profile, although that front grille looks garish. Hope they make it smaller.

Make no mistake, Hyundai has already demonstrated that they can provide quality and are going to offer luxury in a big way. Expect VFM pricing (relative to the Germans), great quality & top-notch equipment levels. In the recent past, Hyundai's styling & suspension tuning have shown great improvements. They've hired the right folk, that's for sure.

It'll be a long time before we see this luxury arm in India though.

Nope, not in India. It will be years before the Genesis brand makes it to India, though Hyundai may use some cars during motor shows just for the sake of "flexing some muscle". South Korea, China, North America and the Middle East are the first targets since we're only talking about petrol engines for now.

Handsome and full looks. Good sign to see Hyundai make a bid for the territory of the German 3. Toyota was considered a second rate brand in the early seventies. I hope Hyundai go far. Never owned or driven a Hyundai but they sure try hard to read and please the customer. Look forward to read more on this car.

Here's a look at the 2020 Genesis G90, my personal opinion? Love the front looks, hate the rear.. slight touches of Bentley in many places given that the Genesis team is mostly from Bentley. Interiors are the best I've ever seen in any car, period.
