Volkswagen group to discontinue more than 40 car models!

The Volkswagen group is in the process of a complete overhaul of it's business operations.

As they are increasing their billion-Euro investments in electric cars, ride hailing/sharing platforms and automated driving so that they can become the market leader in transportation through green technology by 2025, they have announced that they will be phasing out more than 40 existing models from their respective brands' portfolios.

This comes as a part of their new strategy of re-establishing their image worldwide, which suffered a severe blow by the Dieselgate scandal in recent times.

The VW group produces about 340 car models across all it's brands, which includes parent company Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat.

A decision on finalising which particular models will face the axe will be taken by the company soon, according to a VW spokesman.

Hopefully, the exciting ones are not axed. The smaller offerings (Polo, Golf, Jetta, Skodas, A4) which are the source of bread and butter are more likely to be continued. Let's hope this brings more good than bad German car lovers. Who wouldn't want to see a solid, meticulously-engineered Tesla rival that is truly green!
