Here is the link to the Bentley website picture.

*Spoiler ALERT*
[Just keep on zooming till you reach the Bentley emblem on the headrest.]

You cannot zoom to any other place in the picture. so, it's really only the car that is "Gigapixel"ised.

But the novelty of the exercise and the result is just awesome. The perfect metaphor for Bentley's attention to detail.

Good. If only the designs were worth zooming in!

Unfortunately the weird dual eyes design of Bentley these days is below average IMO, with Bentagya especially receiving a lot of slack from reviewers worldwide for its design.

re: Bentley creates Gigapixel, the world's highest-definition car photo

Why is this even in the news? Let alone, a separate thread here?
Its just some clever coding that's creating the illusion of a "Giga" pixel photo.
And its a bad job from the photographic perspective. The car and the bridge doesn't look to be cohesive. Lighting inconsistencies and then there's the glaring lack of motion blur on the yacht in the bay, while the bridge has motion blur.

Minor flaws in the photo aside, pretty cool way to advertise the brand.

I am sure it must have been technologically difficult to achieve the final result. The reason why they are showing it off with pride.

I don't think this is even a photograph, let alone it being a 53,000 megapixel one. This is more likely a digital art piece. Why else is it not possible to zoom into any other part of the car, let alone other parts of the "photograph"?

It might be an innovative way to gather eyeballs, but Bentley, I thought you guys were above such cheap trickery.

Sorry, but I disagree.
1. The ad is trying to tell you that the brand takes the smallest of details in to consideration.
2. Technological difficulty - Its a standing shot of a car badly photoshopped on to a background and scaled using some clever (not essentially good) code.

Based on the above criteria and the ad budget for a company like this, I would rate the ad as "can do better". Definitely nothing worth the hyperbole as "world's largest giga/peta" etc.

Re: Bentley creates Gigapixel, the world's highest-definition car photo

Here's a link to some real Gigapixel photographs:

http://www.gigapixel.com/galleries/

An example of what one of these images entails:
The 4.1 billion pixel image is composed of 494 individual photos taken on April 20, 2016. It was captured using a Canon 5D MKII, Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM lens and a GigaPan EPIC Pro. The final hi-res file is 133,644 x 30,830 or 4,120 megapixels.

These days advertising seems to be more about creating something sensational rather than something impressive or memorable. Guess this one is succeeding by those metrics!

May be, trying to conserve bandwidth, since the real photo where you can zoom into everywhere will take a huge time to load?
