re: The Range Rover Velar. EDIT: Now spotted in India!

Got off the phone with the adviser at JLR a few minutes ago. He reckons it'll be priced at 1.05 Cr OTR and the Test Drive vehicle is expected to hit the BLR showroom in October later this year :/

re: The Range Rover Velar. EDIT: Now spotted in India!

Was keenly reading up on the Velar. Looks fabulous but something tells me its going to cost at the very least a cool 1.5 crores. So not one everyone's radar then.

re: The Range Rover Velar. EDIT: Now spotted in India!

A report on Motoroids suggests that Land Rover dealerships across India are accepting bookings for the Range Rover Velar at a token amount of Rs. 3 lakh. The British automaker hasn't officially announced the commencement of deliveries yet.

re: The Range Rover Velar. EDIT: Now spotted in India!

If the Velar is priced at 80l it'll be pushing RR Sport territory after its price revision.

I hope the Velar will not be a pricing disaster like the 3.0 diesel F Pace and the Jaguar XE

re: The Range Rover Velar. EDIT: Now spotted in India!

After the recent price reductions the Velar has to come in at 60-70lacs ex showroom to make any sense and not cannibalise the larger Range Rover Sport. The sales guys in these high end brand showrooms often guess a ballpark figure without any real info or guidance. E.g.: when the rumours spread by various dealers were that ye new E Class would be 85-90 lacs ex showroom.

Range Rover Velar SVR Spied!

The Range Rover Velar. EDIT: Now spotted in India!-screen-shot-20170611-12.33.50-am.png

The most potent version of the Velar has been spied!

Quote:
Judging by the prototype in the video, Land Rover is likely testing a V-8 engine. The engine is almost certainly a version of Jaguar Land Rover’s 5.0-liter supercharged V-8. This means peak output could be anywhere between 500 and 600 horsepower. (The 600-hp version of the engine debuts later in June in the Jaguar XE SV Project 8.)

Other upgrades for the Velar SVR should include tweaks to the transmission and chassis.

Vehicles with the SVR tag attached are aimed at the offerings from Audi Sport, BMW M and Mercedes-AMG. Right now there’s only the Range Rover Sport SVR and F-Type SVR, but we know an F-Pace SVR is also in the works. The F-Pace and Velar are twins under the skin, though the Land Rover is slightly longer than its Jaguar counterpart.

Exactly, though the JLR sales team is trying to push a higher tag so that their F Pace and RRS don't get stuck. I assume it to be price almost same or maybe a pinch higher than the F-Pace which starts at 68L which gets further topped with discounts in 6-8L region

Pop up grab handles for door, lights coming up on steering. Wondering how ugly it would be if one small thing breaks down !

Really love the interior though. Whole car has smooth surfaces and seems luxuriant.

Range Rover Velar spotted ahead of launch

From : http://www.cartoq.com
Land Rover is all set to introduce its latest global offering, the Velar in the Indian market soon. The vehicle has been spotted for the first time in the Indian market by a youtuber.
There will be 3 engine options on offer, 2 diesels and 1 petrol. The petrol is the same 2.0 liter 4 cylinder unit that powers the whole range currently. The unit produces 247 Bhp and 365 Nm and is mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission. The base diesel is the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder unit which produces 177 Bhp and 430 Nm. The same engine is on offer on the F-Pace as well, which is Jaguar’s first and only SUV. The top spec Velar will be powered by the 3.0 liter V6 which makes 296 Bhp and 700 Nm. This is a stonker of an engine and is the one you should opt for, if the budget permits.
Expected pricing:
Petrol: S : Rs 79 lakhs, SE: Rs 81 lakhs, HSE: Rs 85 lakhs
Diesel: 2.0: S : Rs 79 lakhs, SE: Rs 81 lakhs, HSE: Rs 85 lakhs
Diesel: 3.0: S: Rs 1.10 crore, SE: Rs 1.12 crore, HSE: Rs 1.18 crore.
The car gets LED headlamps with DRLs up front and LED tail lamps at the back. The vehicle sits on air suspension and it can lowered by as much as 50 mm. It also has a water wading depth of 650 mm with the suspension at the highest setting.
On the inside, the car gets a 20 way adjustable front seat with heating, cooling and the massage function. The car has 4-zone climate control and two 10″ touchscreen systems which can be personalized. Variants from the SE onward come with a 12.3 inch MFD giving all vital vehicle information. The car also gets heads up display.
Bookings have already begun in the Indian market with dealers already accepting bookings. They are expecting a delivery time of around November/December.

Mat Watson reviews the Velar

Although it's loaded, felt it's missing few features for the price it's asking - panoramic sunroof, powered folding rear seats like the ones in the Endy etc. Wonder why they went for the glossy finish instead of the plastic cladding on the side skirts for an SUV. Yes, it looks good, but will be a nightmare keeping it clean.

That's probably because this car will almost never see anything more than a village road as far as off roading is concerned. RRs are capable offroaders but ding one wrong part and you're looking at a hefty bill.

Also, frankly these prices are just plain obscene! They may be great products but, if these prices on cartoq are accurate, they are asking for over 40L over an equivalent Q7. I'd rather get the Q7 and have enough spare to get an A3. And if a sporty feel is what i'm after, i'd rather get the new Cayenne, which i assume will be similarly priced AND more reliable.

Just my personaly opinion of course. Not that i have the funds to buy any car in this range!
