2019 Volkswagen Passat will debut in China this September with design cues from Arteon and the Phideon, and looking more like a sedan coupe than a traditional sedan.

The new 2019 Volkswagen Passat is made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture. Initially, there will be two engines available: a 1.4 turbo with 150 hp, and a 2.0 turbo with either 186 hp or 220 hp. A PHEV will be added to the lineup later.

It probably will make its way to the US for Detroit 2019, I guess! It wont come to Europe for sure until the WLTP mess is cleaned up!

I think the Passat looks really good from the rear and the sides. I like the front too, but I sure hope VW takes out some of the chrome from the front when they launch it in the EU.

The WLTP situation is getting better with more cars getting added to the revised price list after the WLTP tests. I guess all the engine-gearbox combinations and variants would be back on the price list in another couple of months.

This model seems to be specific for US, South Korea and China Markets. Although it seems more like a full-size sedan, it is called Passat NMS(New Midsize Sedan). See this link.
I doubt this will make it to India. In case it does make it to India, looks like a possible upgrade for existing Jetta AT owners who do not want to go for the big three. The present Passat model is too vanilla plain jane. I heard from the dealers that rupees four lacs discount is available on the highline model.

Such cars have a seven-step “robot” DSG model DQ381 with two wet clutches. Soon there will be a younger version with a 1.4 TSI engine (approximately 150 hp), as well as a rechargeable hybrid based on it. Such a Passat PHEV will have a six-step “robot” DQ400e with an integrated electric motor, the peak output of the installation - 211 hp and 400 Nm. Acceleration time to 100 km / h - 7.8 s, there is a mode of movement in pure electric, and passport fuel consumption - 1.4 l / 100 km.

2020 VW Passat teased for before an early 2019 debut.

The new Passat rides on the platform of its predecessor, which basically means no AWD option will be available and no room for electrified bits. Also, the Passat is permanently saying goodbye to the V6 unit.

the 2020 model will be offered in a total of four trim levels with options like lane assist, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, ambient lighting, and navigation to be available on mid-tier trims this time around.

Please VW, atleast change the steering wheel design for the Passat, Touareg, and Phaeton/Arteon to a more chunky, luxurious feel rather than copy pasting the Polo's steering wheel across the entire range Please check the earlier steerings of the Passat or Phaeton for reference otherwise the car resembles a Polo pixel to pixel but for the large boot. The brown interiors and seats are fantastic though.

I'm somehow obsessed with car steering wheels when it comes to me driving, the best I've seen are the old chunky BMW ones seen on F30 3 or F10 5 (not the super-slim spoked ones of today).
