10th-gen Honda Accord unveiled in Thailand

Honda has unveiled the 10th-generation Accord for the Thai local market. The price and delivery dates will be announced later in May 2019.

While the overall length and height of the car have reduced, the new car is wider than the old model. The front gets a black grille with chrome bar at the top. From the sides, the car has a coupe-like roof design and at the back, it gets C-shaped tail lights.

On the inside, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch TFT multi-information display and with a head-up display. The car is also equipped with wireless charging.

In Thailand, the Accord is offered with a choice of two powertrains – a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine good for 187 BHP and 243 Nm of peak torque and a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle petrol engine combined with dual electric motors and a 1.3 kWh battery pack with a peak power of 212 BHP. While a CVT transmission is offered on the smaller engine, the Hybrid will come with an e-CVT.

The Accord also comes equipped with Honda SENSING, which uses a millimetre-wave radar and a camera to offer collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant and auto high beam amongst others. The car also gets a cross traffic monitor and multi view camera system and a parking assistant system that controls the steering while parking the car.

The 10th-generation Accord was globally unveiled in July 2017. That said, it is not certain when the car would make its way to India.

Man! If there's a company out-performing Audi in the boring design language sector, it's definitely going to be Honda now!
The rear suits more to City than the almighty Accord! The earlier day I had a real hard time to distinguish between the new Honda Civic and new City. This shall take it to another level!

What are these designers eating? Nap inducing rice?
Maybe Honda should poach Mr.Bose or some designers from Tata, if they want to win the design game. My neighbours 15 years old Accord (7th gen) looks so much more contemporary.

Re: 10th-gen Honda Accord unveiled in Thailand

Having sat in the new Accord 2.0T personally. The car is a Bomb! The 2.0T has globally replaced the well known V6 and although it produces slightly lesser horsepower 256 PS @ 6500 rpm, it produces higher torque, 370 Nm to be exact! Its nothing but a detuned Civic Type R engine. Coupled with Honda's latest 10 speed auto (NOT CVT), it does 0-100 in 6 sec! There are even people who have gotten it done in the upper 5's!

Makes this car a perfect blend of BMW performance, Mercedes comfort and Honda reliability! Now Just imagine a Hondata stage 2 tune and you're talking about a car much faster than the Type R!
And IMO, Looks most beastly in Red Sport line trim, with a blacked out front grill and Ninja star alloys!

These Japanese mainstream sedans are definitely stepping up & matching / beating the entry-level Germans in luxury. I drove the new Camry recently and was quite impressed. It's clear that Toyota took a lot of inspiration from Europe.

But Honda needs to get its design act together. Since 5 years now, they're getting more & more quirky. Now, what is it with these HUGE C-shaped tail-lamps? All cars from the Amaze to the Civic to the new Accord are getting it. Don't know about others, but I find them w-e-i-r-d.

Re: 10th-gen Honda Accord unveiled in Thailand

I absolutely LOVE the way this car looks, inside and out. And that interior with the brown leather looks smashing. This car has received rave reviews in the US.

Honda must get this to India ASAP, and this time as a CKD please. Price it 1-1.5 lakhs below the Camry. And bring the petrol as well as the hybrid. It’s not going to sell much (given that the Camry and Superb hardly sell) but it’ll help their ‘premium aspirations’ and might even bring some customers for the Civic and CR-V.

While we’re at that, can Hyundai bring the sexy new Sonata as well?

Like that body builder who skipped leg day, this one skipped back day. Looks like Johnny Bravo crawling. I await the day when cars start looking like cars again

Re: 10th-gen Honda Accord unveiled in Thailand

The sensor hanging out in front of the radiator looks like a poor aftermarket job.
They should have worked on integrating it better with the grille.

The tail lamps look really out of place in an otherwise well rounded design.

The newer Civic based Honda Insight is a much better looking design.

Re: 10th-gen Honda Accord unveiled in Thailand

Although Honda designers have tried to make the 10th gen Accord look sleek by introducing a couple like silhouette, the front looks half finished & the rear is forgettable as well. Having seen the car in flesh; it looks hideous; definitely not a car that one would like to turn back to look at it. And what’s with those manhole sized 19 inch wheels and the floating 7”/8” (on different trims) inch display that looks tacky, almost like an afterthought. It is somewhat easier to digest it on the Civic but on Accord I would have expected a better integrated design. Frankly the only saving grace on this car is the Honda Sensing; Honda’s Safety suite.

Out here dealers are finding it tough to move this car from their lots even after extending all kinds of incentives. In 2018 Honda has experienced a 10% drop in Accord sales (In North America; their largest market) as compared to 2017 which also partly stems from the overall negative sentiment around sedan sales however this design is also substantially contributing to Accord’s downward slide. Disappointed.

Re: 10th-gen Honda Accord unveiled in Thailand

Recently, the outgoing Accord Hybrid with the price at Rs. 45 lakh has entered our country via CBU format. Since the 9th-gen Honda Accord has registered an extremely gloomy sale performance last year (0 units registered in 2018), I am sure the 10th-gen Honda Accord is unlikely to make its entry to India.

Frankly I am underwhelmed by the design. What's with the coupe like roof design for sedans these days. Makes them look like an elongated hatch back more than anything else. The interior luxury and the power-trains aside these designs are the opposite of our compact hatches. The new Accord just does not cut it for me in this respect just like the Civic.

Drive on,

Re: 10th-gen Honda Accord unveiled in Thailand

Last week saw quite a lot of these latest gen Accords in the US & have to admit that its quite a looker. If launched in India at the same price as the Toyota Camry this will be my pick over the Camry for sure.
