If you really want to see how fast an F1 car is, do try to get hold of the Fifth Gear episode where Tiff gets in the BMW-Williams (in Montoya's saddle ) and races Vicki in an E60 M5.

Most astonishing.

The video may be found on www.finalgear.com

If yo'l remember the Schumi vs Euro fighter race held sometime back. Schumi's car finished the 600m drag in around 9.3 secs at around 290kmph (in damp conditions).

Which means that a quick F1 car like the Renault should be able to hit 300 in under 9 secs on a bright sunny day. 16.7 secs from the Veyron is light years away (still a damn good figure for a road car).

Absolutely awesome, ain't it? Especially the bit when the camera gets knocked out of position in the M5, due to the sound of the passing FW26 (I think it was).

Woohoo!

Downloaded the vid yesterday, amazing performance. The F1 car made that 500bhp beast look like a sitting duck.

30 secs a lap quicker than the M5 on such a small circuit. On a proper F1 track that gap is sure to increase by another 10-15 secs.

I'm already in love with it but, my all time fav will always be the Mclaren F1. If you consider the supercar scene when it was launched, the Mclaren F1 was capable of doing everything, to every other car......... what the Veyron does to the Mclaren F1 today.

In that sense, they're both great cars with great presence.
