Land Rover has unveiled the next-generation Discovery Sport. Prices will start at GBP 31,575 in the UK.

The new Discovery Sport is based on the new Premium Transverse Architecture which can accommodate electrified powertrains. The car features an evolutionary design. At the front, it gets W-shaped LED DRLs, LED headlights, a new grille and bumpers. Design elements like a rising beltline, a clamshell bonnet and sloping roof have been retained. The rear gets LED tail lamps and revised bumpers.

On the inside, Land Rover claims that the new Discovery Sport offers more interior space and a 5+2 seating layout with 40:20:40 split-folding second row offering 24 different combinations. The SUV comes equipped with a new touchscreen infotainment system, a smart-mirror that displays a video feed in the IRVM for better rear visibility, ClearSight Ground View that helps drivers navigate rough road or high kerbs by projecting the terrain beneath the car on the display and wireless charging for mobile phones.

The Discovery Sport will be offered with a 48V mild-hybrid option, available across a range of Ingenium petrol and diesel engines, with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. A 3-cylinder petrol plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is expected later in 2019.

Safety systems include Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Driver Condition Monitor.

Looks very similar to the previous one. I guess JLR do not want to rock the boat on this considering how the new Discovery has bombed with its radically different styling. The new interiors completes what could be a good package assuming the diesel ingenium engine issues are resolved

I too was not a fan of the last ones design. I feel they made the Discovery SUV less of an SUV and more of a crossover with that decision.

The front end looks great, very subtle changes but makes it look brand new. The rear on the other hand looks like an aftermarket upgrade with those taillights.

The Diesel engines have been facing major issues with the DPF filters not getting hot enough due to its placement. This led to the following

• Frequent DPF Regenerations leading to engine sumps getting contaminated with diesel.
• Excessive AdBlue consumption leading to engines going into limp mode
• Premature blocked DPF's.

Cars running in town and short runs are highly prone to this.

Note, this happens only to traverse engines, the longitudinal engined Jags and Discoverys are okay.

It's a "Sport" model thing. The Range Rover Sport and the Discovery Sport both have a gear lever instead of a rotary knob.
