Rebadged Maruti Ertiga launched as Toyota Ertiga in Kenya

So the rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been launched as Toyota Ertiga in Kenya.

Looks like the move by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki is yeilding good results.

This was surprising as Toyota sells Rush and Avanza 7 seater editions in Kenya. Also their product website doesn't show Ertiga yet. Maybe they are selling Ertiga without re-badging?

Re: Rebadged Maruti Ertiga launched as Toyota Ertiga in Kenya

Well, it's a good thing that the new-gen Ertiga has improved in every way and is more worthy of the "Toyota" badge (although still not, IMHO). The new 1.5L petrol & diesel engines are superior to the older 1.3L diesel & 1.4L petrol too. Don't think they could've gotten away with slapping a T badge on the 1st-gen Ertiga.

Actually, they haven't.

Looks like it's still Suzuki Ertiga, retailing through Toyota Kenya. They also retail other Japanese brands like Yamaha, Hino, Case IH etc in Kenya, so might be adding Suzuki as a separate brand in their portfolio.

Adding to my above point, now it's the 'Suzuki' Swift launched through Toyota Kenya -
