Images of the next-generation Honda Jazz have leaked online. The leaked images show 4 different variants.



The car gets projector headlamps with what appears to be integrated daytime running lights (DRLs). Some variants get a partially closed-off grille with a chrome trim. The bumper houses a set of fog lamps. At the rear, it gets wraparound slim tail lights and two chrome bars on one variant. The hatchback rides on single-tone or dual-tone alloy wheels based on the variant. The images also show a crossover variant with plastic body cladding and roof rails and it appears to have a higher ground clearance. A dual-tone colour scheme is also offered. Reports suggest the car rides on 16-inch wheels.

On the inside, the Jazz comes with an all-black interior or a dual-tone brown and dark brown interior. The images also reveal a 2-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a touchscreen head unit. According to reports, the car will come with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and leather interiors.



The leaked images show the word 'HEV' on the number plate, indicating that the car could come with a hybrid powertrain, which is said to have a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors.

The Jazz is said to be offered in four variants - Basic, Ness, Luxe and Crosstar.

Looking at the images, it seems quite drab and more van-like in comparison to the current generation. Might I say, even a generation older than the one it will replace. Even a neon green roof is not able to save the day.

But, will wait to see the product in person and hope that I'm proven wrong.

Will the success of Amaze push Honda to bring this to India soon or will they take their own sweet time and maybe get it late 2020 or 2021 with the cross star replacing wrv?

I don't know why Honda puts a half hearted effort in India.

Not really a fan of the new design instantly, when I saw it. But I think it will grow on us slowly. The Jazz has never been an outright beautiful car. Some angles looked quirky always. The new model although not as sharp and edgy as the outgoing one, should do just fine to attract the buyers who value more space in this kind of a body shell.

Honda has no plans to bring the all-new Jazz to India.

Honda’s strategy is to focus on its bread-and-butter models like the City, Amaze and WR-V and discontinue products that are unprofitable.

Shrinking volumes and high development costs make next-gen Honda Jazz unviable for India. With no replacement planned, the current Jazz's lifecycle is likely to be extended.

Actually, I am quite pleased with this news, particularly the extension part. Although the new design should be a better platform, the current one gives you no reason to complain. Besides, IMO, the current one looks better than the new one --- the design hasn't dated a bit. Just give it a BS6 compliant engine, 1.2 NA or a 1.0 turbo, increase the service interval to 1yr, a few more goodies, and it's good to go for another generation.

Honda LIFE, is the JAZZ/FIT for the Chinese market.

Gets 1.5 liter engine NA 131 hp, torque 155 Nm. Transmission 6MT and CVT.

Spotted these at the Wellington Honda dealer.

There are 3 models or trims (All seen in photos). The Jazz Life, the Crosstar (comes with water proof seats) and the E:HEV Luxe edition. As the name goes, it is a hybrid drive train. Claimed running costs are 50% lower than the gas engine only model. Engine and electric drive specifications are impressive. The engine does about 72kW and 131nm and the electric motors (there are two) adds another 80kW and 253nm of torque. Claimed economy for the E:HEV is <3l per 100km. CO2 rated at 64g/km. All models are equipped with a 1.5l i-vtec engine. The E:HEV is the most well appointed on the inside with a light brown interior. All the bells and whistles are present such as Apple Car Play, all digital dashboard and the iconic Magic Seats.
