The Baojun 530 facelift has been launched in China at a starting price of RMB 77,800. The SUV is available in four variants and three seating options. The Baojun 530 is sold in India as the MG Hector.



The car measures 4,695 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width and 1,750 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. It gets new dual-tone alloy wheels, a new grille and slim LED daytime running lights with a silver bar connecting them. It also gets a silver trim at the rear.

On the inside, the 530 facelift comes with a 2+3, 2+2+2 or a 2+3+2 seating configuration. The 6-seat version gets leather-wrapped captain seats in the second row. The SUV is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, tire pressure monitoring system, a heated rearview mirror, and a 10.4-inch touchscreen head-unit with voice command, remote control, and online entertainment.



The Baojun 530 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 145 BHP @ 5,200 rpm and 250 Nm @ 2,200-3,400 rpm and a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Has a much more matured look in this avatar ! Will be another 3 years to get this in India, by the time they would be a household name at least in the Tier 1 Cities

The Chinese have entered the Automobile with a bang here, just like in the mobile industry.

Xuv5oo, Seltos and Harrier have some catching up to do. Also, will be interesting to see the sales trend of Innova here - I expect a significant drop once the 7 seater Variant of Hector is launched !

That is quite quick to have a facelift. This was launched just last year if I am not mistaken. If they manage to get this to India next year then hats off to MG India and Mr.Chaba.

This will surely broaden the appeal of the Hector which already has got off to a strong start. I think the main competition it will face off against will be the XUV500 and the Cassini to some extent. Because Mahindra is also expected to load the next XUV to the gills with features. So interesting times ahead.

What MG India needs to address before launching this in India is streamline its production to reduce waiting periods and clear up the backlogs, if any.

The only problem I have with the Hector (in terms of looks) is the over done rear, I hope they change it a bit.
MG should add the 7-6 seater and diesel AT option to further broaden the appeal of the product and to also make it a complete package.

I found one on the internet, the facelift has given the Hector a much required matured look !
