An interesting & long read - A Ferrari Enzo crash & the Gizmondo saga

Found this interesting read on how a Ferrari Enzo crash in the United States exposed a billion dollar scam.

Quote:
In 2006, a Ferrari Enzo was destroyed in a mysterious accident in the Malibu hills. The ensuing investigation revealed the involvement of Bo Stefan Eriksson and Carl Freer, whose startup gaming company, Gizmondo, would lose over $380 million in an unprecedented scam that burned investors from London to Los Angeles.

Re: An interesting & long read - A Ferrari Enzo crash & the Gizmondo saga

What a great share this is! Read all 7 parts almost in one sitting. I'm surprised have never heard of this before. While I was quite familiar with Gizmodo (the tech website), this (Gizmo-n-do) was the name I heard for the first time. Thank you for sharing!

What starts out with a crashed Ferrari - and a testament to the engineering marvel that it is - soon leads into a much deeper world, not unlike what we have seen with Uber and WeWork, where anyone with the title of "Founder" is worshipped blindly and has money thrown at them, results notwithstanding.

Goes to show how, even now, money - big money - is desparately searching for opportunities to earn a healthy return somewhere, anywhere. Almost anything will do, so long as it helps tide over one day at a time, one quarter at a time, one press conference at a time, promising returns which are "soon to come".

Cheers,
