Aston Martin rolls back the years with the V12 Speedster

Finally, a sportscar without a windscreen but with a V12 engine! No, not a Caterham or an Ariel Atom, but an Aston Martin (1959 Le Mans winner anyone?)

But reminds me of the crazy racing machines of the 1960s and, more recently, Audi's LMP1 killing machines of 2000s! I remember other brands trying similar cars like this before like Mercedes with the SLR Sir Stirling Moss edition etc. Needless to say, only the wealthiest pure speed freaks will go for it.

Ferrari has had a V12 speedster out for a couple of years now. Its the Monza SP1 and Monza SP2. Both are based on the 812.

Aston Martin has unveiled a special variant of the forthcoming V12 Speedster that pays tribute to the DBR1 that claimed victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959 and the 1,000 Km of Nurburgring in 1957, 1958, and 1959.

V12 Speedster is powered by a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 700bhp and 555lb ft. This gives a 0-62mph time of 3.4sec and a top speed of 198mph.

Aston Martin is doing this as they still haven't gotten deposits on all 88 units.
