About 12 years since launching the 370Z, Nissan is finally announcing a replacement model is on its way. We’ve seen the fan renderings, read the rumors, so it’s only natural we’re now getting an official confirmation the Z sports car will live to see another generation. Published on the company’s YouTube account, the video previews an assortment of all-new models scheduled to be launched in the following period.

Details about the 370Z successor have not been provided by Nissan, but rumors persist it’s going to be called the 400Z. Allegedly, it’ll borrow the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400, good for at least 400 horsepower or even closer to 500 hp. It should stick to its rear-wheel-drive roots and offer both a stick shift and an automatic to please both worlds.

The endless rumors about the new Z adopting a retro design are beginning to make sense as we’re getting a 240Z vibe from the heavily sloped roofline and the prominent rear wheel arches. It appears to have a much larger front grille than the current model, along with redesigned rounder LED headlights eschewing the boomerang shape of the 370Z's.

Just saw this on a Donut video. I do think this will be Nissan's saviour. A fun to drive, decently powerful ( maybe a turbo 4 cylinder this time? Ok maybe not ) M3 rival.

Would work well for them, in my opinion. I hope it does.

Nissan has just presented the Z Proto to the public, announcing the successor to the current 370Z sports model.

The Z Proto is shown in a striking yellow color (reminiscent of the one used on the original model), with 19-inch alloy wheels, carbon fiber elements, an exhaust system with two exhaust pipes.

The car is 4382 mm long, 1849 mm wide and 1311 mm high, which means it is slightly longer, wider and lower than the 370Z.

while the Z Proto under the hood has a V6 twin-turbo engine, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Nissan announces that an automatic transmission is in preparation.

The engine should be borrowed from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport, which means that around 400hp and 474 Nm are expected.

The backside resembles too much to the 90's 300ZX

So nice in silhouette, and rear is gorgeous! Wish the grill matched the overall design.

Glad the Z will live along, that too with its basic recipe staying the same.

Not just the long lifecycle of the 370Z, it came at the wrong time. With the waning interest in cheaper sportscars, and also the 2008 recession.

And the 400z coming at a time when not only is there a global pandemic and a looming recession (are we already in it?), the company itself is in shambles and is looking at a huge fresh product onslaught to revive fortunes.

With the GTR touching almost one-and-half decades in existence, India may get the 400Z as a halo product a.k.a overpriced CBU.

I know many people might not agree with me, but somehow I think those headlamps resemble to that of Swift and BMW Z4. Seems like both of these designs have been an inspiration for the new 400Z headlamps.

Clearly, they started at the rear, went around the sides and lost interest by the time they got to the front. That front end would look very familiar in the w&w thread.

Maybe it will look better in darker colors like black or blue.

At the same time the rear end looks beautiful. Some resemblance to the Ford Mustang GT to nitpick ?

Looks gorgeous, I feel! Has a resemblance to the 90's 300ZX. Look stunning from the rear, especially with the side profile which holds a resemblance to the BMW Z3 (?) & the Nissan 350Z/370Zs. However, the styling has gone for a toss at the front. Headlamps similar to those of a Aston Martin Vantage & a very out-of-place grille. Otherwise, it seems like a solid product. Now, hoping that Nissan launches this here.

Tried to modernise the 240z look.
IMO they should have gone for some circular lights.
The front looks confused and for the uninitiated they seem like copied from F-type or Z4.

The rear as per the company is inspired from the 300ZX and IMHO looks inspired from any generic 80s sportscar.
The new Tucson looks more inspired from the Mustang rear

Well almost true, i guess when the design team was about to finish the front, management just released the design as it is, so the front grill which might be in works, they kept a rectangular box (like a confidential marking)
