Apparently, the 2021 Sportage has been designed by Kia’s design centres in USA,Germany,China and Korea.
4 Design Centres for 1 car.
But they have managed to create something that stands out .And that’s exactly what most people want in that segment.Something to stand out.
Better to get used to it as a lot of cars in the future could have unique,quirky designs like these.

The Front looks very Busy and not at all that appealing. Older Sportage were extremely Sporty and sharing a Picture for reference. The Side profile looks okay and the Interiors are certainly next gen. Slowly and steadily, KIA will be launching other products from its portfolie.

I was hoping that this would be their debut car in India but with Seltos, they made a good choice.

That's exactly why it looks the way it is. Front by one, sides by another, rear by one centre and interior through another center.

2022 Kia Sportage technical specifications and features revealed.

2022 Sportage is 4660 mm long, 1865 mm wide, and 1660 mm tall, with the wheelbase measuring 2755 mm. According to Kia, these proportions along with the improved packaging brought by the new platform give the compact crossover segment-leading headroom, legroom, and cargo capacity (637 liters).



Available in Gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

A turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline unit with 177 hp and 265 Nm, paired with either a standard six-speed manual or a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic.

A new 2.0-liter diesel producing 183 hp and 417 Nm. Paired exclusively with a heavily upgraded eight-speed automatic.



Additional gasoline and diesel variants are planned, along with hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions set to feature something called E-Handling. Kia says it will release details about the complete engine lineup closer to the Sportage's launch.



Hopping inside, the cabin will accommodate a pair of 12-inch screens – a fully digital instrument cluster and the infotainment's touchscreen. The 2022 Sportage also benefits from a more compact shift-by-wire transmission dial for the automatic and can be had with a Harman Kardon sound system.



Debuting with the all-new crossover is a Terrain Mode encompassing Drive, Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Smart selectable modes that alter the vehicle’s settings to suit the type of terrain, including mud, sand, and snow.



The new Sportage will go on sale globally later this year when Kia will also unveil the shorter Euro-spec version.

Kia has unveiled the European edition of the new fifth-generation Sportage – and it’s the first time in 28 years that it has offered a version of the SUV specifically developed for the region.



The European version is 4515mm long, a significant 85mm shorter than the global model – although it is 30mm longer than the previous generation. The 2680mm wheelbase is 10mm longer than before but 75mm shorter than its global sibling’s.



The side bodywork of the European model has been reworked extensively to take account of its shorter overall length and wheelbase. The C-pillar in particular has been significantly revised, losing the window built into the longer car. There is also a different rear bumper design.



Inside, the new Sportage shares a dashboard with the EV6 and is dominated by a gently curved display comprising two 12.3in digital screens.



Many of the key controls are operated through a row of ‘multi-mode’ haptic buttons.



The Sportage will be offered in the UK with a range of electrified petrol and diesel powertrains.
- A 1.6-litre mildhybrid petrol engine will deliver 148bhp and 178bhp, and
- A Diesel MHEV will be available with 113bhp and 134bhp.
- There will also be a 227bhp 1.6-litre hybrid option, and
- A 261bhp plug-in hybrid that features a 13.8kWh battery for 35 miles of electric-only running.



European models in GT-Line trim will get a black contrasting roof.



Its boot is around 10% bigger than the previous Sportage’s, with Kia claiming around 500 litres of storage, depending on powertrain.



The plug-in hybrid model places batteries under the floor of the car, Kia says there will be minimal impact on boot space for that model.



UK deliveries of the new Sportage are scheduled to begin before the end of the year. Pricing has yet to be finalised.

After disappointment with the Tucson, this is another possibility, as the Tucson's twin. Unfortunately, no indication if it'll ever reach Indian shores. Some rumours, but nothing concrete, and not from any good source. Just speculation, so take it for whatever it's worth! See this report in the link below, as an example:

Any update on whether Kia will introduce Sportage in Indian market in 2023? There are very few options in India in 25-30 lakh price band.
