Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Why would any one buy a hatch with power comparable to the compact SUVs with much lower ground clearance. 135 mm GC is ground hugging in Indian context and you will cringe when ever you go over a small hills we call speed breakers.

Sedan had aspirations value in the past which got taken over by SUVs due to practicality. SUVs , even pseudo ones are the new cool. A hatch , highly priced will be a disaster as seen in the past. It’s better if Honda figures out a way to upgrade the Jazz with the diesel CVT combo and extend it to the WRV while they are at it.

Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Can't fathom Honda's thinking here.

Nobody buys a Honda for performance any more, that mantle has been taken over by VW/Skoda/Hyundai/Kia in the 10 to 30 L OTR BLR market.

The competitive pricing and value of the Sonet/Venue/Nexxon will be hard to beat as well.

Sure this looks like a competent hatchback but the 1.0 L turbo pricing will likely be approx 13L BLR as Honda can't keep its grubby paws of a nice profit!

A fully loaded automatic with all the bells and whistles at 12L OTR BLR , however would make things interesting !

Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Oh come on guys are we still believing on Honda.

If they had at least half of the zeal we T-Bhpian's have we could have seen a CSUV, SUV from Honda on roads. Heck, the current lot like the Amaze, Jazz and WRV would have been a serious contenders in their respective segments.

We will not see this car coming here anytime soon or it will be here when the market forgets a segment called Hatchbacks.

Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Bringing this car to India will be a waste of resources from Honda. I sincerely hope they don't bring it here.

Instead, they should focus on fixing WRV's specs/price/engine and may bring in the next-gen HRV to India.

This is a really tough product to push.

It is difficult to price it right. And Honda is sure to get it wrong

Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Wow! I love it! Is that Nardo Grey?? Bring in a very potent petrol engine + AT and I am sold. A likeable Honda after long!!

Like I said in this thread below, it will be great if they can make it happen!

The car that shouldn't exist

But FAT chance! Honda doesn't have the balls to do this here! Man! How I wish they had even one petrolhead in their decision making room! Even Nissan seems to be trying!

Perfectly summarised Honda's contradiction predicament!

GTO's thread on Honda's India stance is almost a decade old. Cannot imagine the level of ignorance Honda is showing towards our market, inspite of such easy to access level of customer pulse being made available to them.
We do love their international variants, and are indeed open to accept them, But Honda takes every possible way to make that impossible!

Tried a bit to buy the CR-V, but nobody seems to be making an effort to even lift up from the chair and make an attempt to sell. That too for a potential customer wanting a car that's rarely selling!
Unless they figure out and come out of it, they are not going anywhere. Even this 'hot' hatch will be launched with the same engine that killed Jazz.

Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Honda JAZZ to be replaced by the City Hatchback in Malaysia:Link1

Impressions of the Hatchback 1.0RS, reviewed in Thailand:

Summary: City e: HEV Vs City Hatchback Turbo RS

Quote:
The City Hatchback Turbo RS is like a college-age girl or just graduated with a lot of energy, a lot of energy, think quickly, do it quickly, think anything you can do. Expressing straightforward, clear, blunt, yet cute. Always thinking of other people Maybe not someone who shows a neat design like folded cloth. But it is the one you will think of when you have to move things from the tower back home.
Hatchback 1.0 RS Turbo

Acceleration test results The payload is about 230 kg.

0-100 kmh

Gear D 11.4-11.6 seconds.

Gear S 11.04-11.2 seconds.

80-120 kmh

Gear D gets 7.4 and 7.7 seconds.

Gear S is 7.22 and 7.26 seconds.

Put the S + Manual Mode in the 3rd gear and press the accelerator for 7.12 seconds.

Quote:
Hatchback RS engine is the same engine as the 1.0 turbo sedan, code P10A6, petrol, 3-cylinder DOHC, 12-valve 988 cc. Bore x stroke size is 73.0 x 78.7 mm. Compression power 10.0: 1 Direct-Injection. With variable valve systems, both Dual VTC (variable by turning the camshaft shaft Both the intake side and the exhaust side) and the VTEC valve elevation variation system only on the intake side Borg-Warner Turbocharger

P10A6 has a maximum power of 122 horsepower (PS) at 5,500 rev / min , maximum torque of 173 Nm (17.6 kg-m) at 2,000 - 4,500 rev / min, supports E20 fuel, CO2 emissions as low as 100 g / km. (Add from the sedan 1 g)

The transmission is a CVT automatic transmission, transmits power from the gearbox with a Torque Converter, the 7-speed pull-down ratio can be locked.Only the RS model has a Paddle Shift pad behind the steering wheel

Pulley ratio Set it at 2.544-0.402.
Reverse gear ratio 2.726-1.543
Gear ratio 4.992
As for the steering system, both models use electric power steering. 13.55: 1 steering gear ratio adjusted to make a turn to be able to turn the car using a radius of 5 meters (reduced from the original model 0.3 meters), a by-product of an increase in the width of the front wheels This allows the wheels to turn more without scuffing the arch
Quote:
has an average consumption of 23.3 km / l. driving with a 7-speed paddle shift steering control system

Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Honda City Hatchback to launch in Malaysia in 2021.

Likely to feature the same powertrain as the current GN2-generation City: a 1.5-litre DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine good for 121 PS and 145 Nm, hooked up to a CVT-type automatic transmission.

India is likely to get the same powertrain as the 1.0-litre turbo engine probably won’t be offered here.

Re: Honda City hatchback to replace Jazz in Asia-Oceania region

Does this also mean that the current Jazz is very likely to be discontinued in a year with no replacement, giving Honda a sedan only presence ?

From what I collect that the Jazz being sold here is localised specifically for India, meaning lighter and maybe some cost cutting too, can't say as I haven't driven the 1st gen Jazz.
How practical would it be for Honda to continue with a unique production line worldwide for a 6-800/month seller, especially when they're already cutting costs/trimming workforce in India ?

My thoughts aren't very encouraging but not very informed either.
