4, 600, 000 kilometers, that's true, must get the zeroes right. It's 4.6 million kilometers done by this 1976 Mercedes Benz 240 D taxi from Greece. That's an awesome first for any Mercedes Benz car ever in the company's recorded history. The owner Gregorios Sachinidis has donated the car to the Mercedes Benz Museum. The following picture and text is by Jeannett Tas on FB.

Thanks for sharing. Really unbelievable, this is true testimony to the brilliance of over engineering the Mercedes cars were known for. Another reason might be negligible electric or what we call automatic, massage, digital etc, etc this and that type of features in that era of cars which made them so reliable and dependable. Even if something went wrong that could be easily fixed anywhere. Think of today ..even what we call reliable cars have some or other electric component like sensor,or abs etc going kaput in first 50k only.

Crust is just keep things simple and it goes on and on , be it the cars or human life. The people leading simple uncomplicated lives live longer and happier.

Beautiful car . Thanks for sharing! The W114 - 15 were phenomenal Benzes, but I love the W123 a lot more. Amazing how we see such high mileage cars in Europe, USA etc. Whenever I'm researching on the reliability of a European car, the EU / USA forums talk of reliability in terms of problems faced over 100,000 - 200,000 miles!

This is an amazing feat indeed. I think MB has now got serious bragging right and can look forward to further strengthen their market position in various geographies across the world.

I fail to understand that why an indian manufactured benz cant even surpass 50K when the niggles start to surface. Is it because of the lack lustre infrastructure(roads, service etc.) or the general thought that they dont make it like that anymore. Case in point an Iphone if lasts perpetually will almost drag Apple to bankruptcy. Is it the deliberate attempt by manufacturers to ensure that the niggles surface and the customer is signalled to replace his ride or is it about the sub par service which the ASC dish out to Indian MB buyers?

The slew of MBs in the used car market with low mileages bear testimony to this.
