The next-generation Toyota Tundra full-size pickup will arrive soon as a 2022 model.

Expect the current truck's 5.7-liter V-8 to be replaced by a twin-turbo V-6.

Bob Carter, Executive Vice President of sales for Toyota North America said, 2022 Toyota Tundra will be available with two all new engines.

Carter says the base engine has more horsepower and torque than the Tundra's existing 5.7-liter V-8 which produces 381 hp and 544 Nm.

Rumour indicates that Toyota plans to replace its naturally aspirated V8 with a turbocharged V6.

Carter further said the optional powertrain incorporates a new technology "that will blow you away,"

We have our concept and our own technology that I think you'll be impressed," Carter said. He hesitated to give us more details on the truck, but said we should get all the information in September. "We're in it to win it," he added.

2022 Toyota Tundra to feature an All-New iForce Max Engine

Toyota says "Next generation of heroic iForce performance is ready to power the all-new Tundra.”

New Tundra's engine cover, which shows three intake runners per side. The speculation is that it's a hybrid or plug-in hybrid variant of the twin-turbo V6 engine.
