Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2021 S-Class S680 Guard luxury sedan. The S 680 Guard is the armoured version of the brand's flagship S-Class sedan, used mainly by high-ranking officials, politicians, heads of state and other celebrities across the world.



The 2021 Mercedes S680 Guard has a VPAM VR10 certification - the highest level of ballistic protection for a civilian. This means that the S680 Guard comes with protective materials integrated all across the sedan, including 10 cm thick polycarbonate windows, Michelin PAX run-flat tyres, hydraulic windows, a built-in oxygen tank and a fire extinguisher.



The 2021 S680 Guard is also said to feature a revamped bodywork, offering better resistance compared to the previous-gen versions. All this protection allows the S680 Guard to protect its passengers from gunshots and explosions.



Being based on the latest-iteration of the S-Class, the 2021 S680 Guard carries forward a host of luxury and convenience features as well. The armoured sedan tips the scale at around 4,200 kg, with Mercedes-Benz having to recalibrate the transmission and steering to handle the added weight.



Powering the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S680 Guard is a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine. It produces 604 BHP and 830 Nm and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels. The 2021 Mercedes S680 Guard has a top speed limited to 190 km/h.
