Yup, petrol is certainly not as cheap as it once was. The buzz word with the Yankees is now FE!! I remember tanking up my Accord in 2001 for only $1.3. Now its over 3 bucks a gallon.

The benefits of hybrid cars has always been a debate but it is a fact that the actual benefits are not as much as the perceived benefits are. For the carmakers, its important in maintaining their "green" image and keeping their overall MPG down (Manufacturer averages).

I do see a lot more american converts to diesel...not only because of the inherent benefits of an oil-burner.

One thing people forget that Hybrids owners get perks like travel in car pool lane etc., in California. If you are crusing by a traffic jam, it saves a lot of fuel.

OT but sometimes you just have to force someone to occupy a second seat in the car to use these carpool lanes even if they dont want to go.

Well, if you have a hybrid then you do not need a passenger for HOV lane and if you dont, then buy yourself a dummy
