Hyundai is set to unveil plans for a series of hydrogen-based products and technologies on 7th September and they include a new hydrogen powered performance saloon.



Hyundai says its Hydrogen Wave online event will showcase plans for a "future vision of a sustainable hydrogen society".



Teaser shows a camouflaged hydrogen-powered Hyundai saloon testing on a race circuit, with the caption - Hydrogen, it's full on toward a clean future.

The high-performance hydrogen concept could be Stinger.

This Stinger midship is a hydrogen-electric hybrid car, with a Stinger body. It is a test mule, currently Hyundai have built up to 5 pieces only for development purposes. The prototype has around 650 – 700 hp and has a fuel cell together with a big battery pack.

At first look you will think this is just a regular camouflaged Stinger, but looking closely you will notice a two air intakes in the rear door trying to be hided with the additional canvas.

The mysterious vehicle was caught in the street and despite we don’t know what this could be, we are completely lost. We don’t know if this model is a production vehicle, a race car or what. The only time we have seen a midship car was the RM series from Hyundai.

Hyundai Reportedly Halts Development Of Hydrogen Technology.

Technical issues, lack of marketability, and the underdeveloped charging infrastructure are to blame.

It is believed a recent internal audit revealed the South Korean brand is unable to meet the original target in terms of production cost reductions. Apparently, the Genesis hydrogen car had been in development for over a year and was supposed to come to fruition in 2025.

Aside from running into technical issues, other roadblocks are represented by the lack of marketability and the underdeveloped charging infrastructure. Sources close to the matter cited by the Korean daily newspaper claim the decision was taken last month after an in-house revision of the project. The fuel cell division has already been reorganized and the R&D team is now "greatly reduced."
