Hyundai-Kia under scrutiny for engine fire case in the USA

After imposing the law suite against one of the largest automaker VW auto group, now its time for the fastest growing automobile group Hyundai to face the scrutiny in the USA for engine fire cases.

"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said it had opened an "engineering analysis" covering about 3 million vehicles to evaluate, among other things, the efficacy of recalls initiated by the two automakers. The agency added that it was aware of 161 fires occurring potentially due to engine failures.

An engineering analysis is the next step in a process that could lead to a recall, although sometimes NHTSA closes such probes without requiring any action."

Wonder if all these probes and law suites are really due to some genuine concerns or they are imposed becasue these 'outsider' automobile companies are posing tough competition to the USA's home grown auto groups like GM, Ford and Tesla by offering better products at lower price point!

Re: Hyundai-Kia under scrutiny for engine fire case in the USA

Now in Australia:

Hyundai and Kia hit with class action: Engine fires, failures, 500,000 cars affected.

Up to half-a-million owners of Hyundai and Kia cars in Australia are being urged to sign up to a class action – lodged in Federal Court this week – due to the high risk of engine failures and fires.

Quote:
In a media statement, Woodsford’s chief investment officer Charlie Morris said: "The myriad of defects with these cars is bad enough. But the fact that Hyundai and Kia knew about the defects these cars had, but continued to sell them regardless is unacceptable. We are determined to hold them to account and ensure that Australian consumers receive the compensation they are due
