In a world where sedans sale numbers are shrinking pretty bad, and many of them just disappear, the Camry is still doing great.



Sales were even up last year to over 313 000 units. That's over 110 000 more than the Honda Accord. And more than many popular SUVs.

V6 will not be part of the next generation.
The most powerful Camry would become the new PHEV model. Just like it is with the RAV-4. And I hear Toyota is even considering making the next Camry a Hybrid-only model

the current Hybrid Camry is rated at a quite amazing 51/53MPG. Currently, the Hybrid is about $2000 more than the standard 4 cylinder Camry. Although Honda charges only about &1200 for the Hybrid Accord over the regular model.

The PHEV RAV-4 is already getting a 42 miles EV-only range. It seems a more efficient and aerodynamic sedan like the next Camry could easily go past 50 miles. Which could be quite something for a mainstream affordable family car.

we’ve envisioned how the next Camry codenamed XV80 may look and dive into everything we know to date.

Underpinning the ninth-generation of the global Camry will likely be a modified version of the TNGA-K (GA-K) platform used under the current car and a handful of other Toyota and Lexus vehicles such as the Crown, ES, RAV4 and Highlander.

Series hybrid propulsion has been a dominant play for Camry, and the electron-assisted 2.5-litre will likely remain a core favorite as the mid-sizer enters its ninth generation. A plug-in hybrid shared with the RAV4 Prime is on the cards, packing 302 hp (225kW) with an EV range of up to 44 miles.

Beyond that, conjecture suggests it will utilize a new 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder in two states of tune to replace the 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine that once was the powerhouse of the range. The base 2.4-litre turbocharged unit will produce around 265 hp (198kW), while a more potent hybridised variant will pump out around 335 hp (250kW), sending power to all four wheels.

In terms of power system, the ninth-generation Camry on the market this time provides two power versions, namely the fuel version equipped with 2.0L+CVT powertrain and the 2.0HEV version equipped with the fifth-generation THS hybrid system, of which the 2.0HEV is the first time to appear on the Camry, the maximum engine power is 152 horsepower, the peak torque is 188 Nm, the maximum power of the motor is 113 horsepower (83kW), the peak torque is 206 Nm, and the fuel consumption is 4.2L/100km. Compared to the previous 2.5-liter pure fuel version, the 2.0HEV version will provide better driving pleasure and fuel economy. The 2.0-liter petrol version is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine with a maximum power of 173 hp and a peak torque of 206 Nm. Subsequently, the 2.5HEV version will also be launched in the domestic market and will continue to pay attention.

So, I'm guessing this would be the 'Asian' version that would eventually make it to markets like India - much cleaner design. 171,800 yuan = 19 lakhs - what we pay for a mid-level Seltos!

America’s best-selling car that isn’t a truck or SUV and now, it’s heavily updated and simplified. Gone is the base gas engine and that’s also the case for the 3.5-liter V6.

Instead, the new Camry is a hybrid only and comes with front or all-wheel drive. The body features influences from both the new Prius and the taller, larger, and more expensive Crown series. Under the skin, it’s largely similar to the 2024 model though.

We now say people prefer hybrids over EVs, hybrids are taking over petrol car sales.
