2023 Mercedes-AMG C43 sedan unveiled

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the 2022 AMG C43 sedan. It is the first AMG variant based on the redesigned C-Class.

The Mercedes-AMG C43 looks a tad bit sporty compared to the regular C-Class. It gets the Panamericana grille upfront and a more aggressive front bumper. Similarly, a tweaked rear bumper with quad exhausts gives the rear end a sporty look. The car rides on larger AMG wheels and comes with a subtle boot lip spoiler.

The interior of the AMG C43 is similar to the new C-Class. It features a vertically-oriented touchscreen infotainment system in the centre and a separate screen for the instrument cluster. The 3-spoke steering wheel and carbon fibre trim add a touch of sporty feel to the cabin.

Powering the AMG C43 is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It produces 402 BHP and 500 Nm. The engine is mated to AMG's 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

The car comes with multiple drive modes, including Sport, Sport+, Comfort and Individual. It also gets a launch control function. Mercedes claims that the new C43 will sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited on standard 18-inch wheels) or 265 km/h when equipped with 19 or 20-inch wheels.
