It is a known fact that carmakers are struggling with semiconductor chip shortages across the globe. Carmakers are either removing multiple features and tech from their models or are being forced to halt production for weeks.



In line with this, Audi is now said to have introduced a new Semiconductor Shortage Package for all its models. According to reports, this package is said to have been introduced at a dealer level, with cars on the showroom floor featuring stickers stating they are "equipped" with the semiconductor shortage package. It is essentially the opposite of what a "package" stands for, which is a bunch of extra features bundled together for an additional price.

The semiconductor shortage package from Audi deletes a few features and tech from models, while also reducing the price of the car by US$ 1,350. These include features like adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, active lane assist, side & rear cross-traffic assist and the Audi Phone box (wireless charging & connection features). Also, none of the features are easy to retrofit. Hence customers opting for the semiconductor shortage package will lose out on these features completely.

The discount on missing these features is not worth it IMO. Better buy the car with these features or avoid buying it for the time being.
