Re: Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds dies in a car crash

Being a 90's kid, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Australian cricket and following Aussie cricketers. Man, what an era it was! I still remember getting nervous while watching him and Matthew Hayden walking down the ground towards the pitch, ready to obliterate opposition's bowling attack. His hairstyle (or the bald look) coupled with his build not helping matters either. Andrew Symonds was a man that we feared for all good reasons

He was one of those hard hitters who would take on any bowler and smash him all over the park, chewing his gum all the while. Not to mention his fielding. His and the team's on-field energy made cricket fast and fun much before T20 craze took over.

Will miss him! Rest in Peace Sir.

RIP. He was good with both ball and bat. Probably the first Aussie player who had a native Australian heritage (not sure). He was not without controversies (Monkeygate, gone fishing etc) but was a reliable team player. First Warne now Symonds. Gone too soon.

He is not native Australian. He was adopted by an Australian family at very young age. His maternal parents were African-Caribbean and Scandinavian.

Extremally sad news. What a talent he was - possibly ahead of his time. But unfortunate that he couldn't maximize his talents during his career. If he kept himself in line he could have easily played a lot more matches!
