A recent video has become viral on social media showing a mystery driver cruising around on a public highway in Czech Republic in a legitimate GP2 race car. The video shows the single-seater, open-wheeled GP2 race car with Ferrari's Formula1-inspired livery out on a public highway among other vehicles.



Czech Authorities are said to have been on the lookout for the mystery driver ever since the video went viral. However, they have been struggling to identify the driver who can be seen driving the GP2 race car in a full racing suit and a helmet.



Reports suggest that this isn't the first time the owner of the race car has been spotted driving on public roads. A similar incident also was reported back in 2019.

In terms of the car itself, it is said to be the Dallara GP2 car built between 2008 - 2010. The car is said to be powered by a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated Renault V8 engine, which makes it sound similar to an F1 car. The engine is said to produce around 600 BHP and is paired with a 6-speed sequential semi-automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels.

LOL! Imagine this coming up in your rear-view mirror.

How would he handle the overheating if he faces traffic or any kind of bottleneck? F1 cars don't have cooling fans (radiator) and this would be the same. God help him if he comes across a speed bump.

But truly an incredible enthusiast to own such a car and drive it like this. The video is epic!

Hats off to the owner
Not at all easy to keep these cars driving worthy, add to that the very high cost of the tyres.
Formula cars of that era were small and nimble. Wish we see smaller F1 cars in future

What a sight, GP2 car, Lamborghini and then Buggati Chiron. The driver was driving with great discipline, kudos to him.

What am incredible site to behold for the other drivers on the highway. I'm a bit curious on the Czech authorities not able to figure out who the driver is, considering this has happened more than once - I'd assume the Lamborghini and other sport cars are definitely associated with the race car driver. Shouldn't be that tough to check that out.

The person who was taking the video was able to keep up with the V8. Not because he was driving rash, but because the V8 owner was driving sedate.
